Crotched Mountain School (CMS), a program of Seven Hills New Hampshire, hosts innovative special education, recreation, arts, music, and vocational programming for students, aged 5-21, who are on the autism spectrum, and/or have disabilities and other challenges that are better supported in an alternative, least-restrictive environment to their local public school system. Students have the option to live year-round in the appointed residences on the sprawling campus located in Greenfield, New Hampshire. Role Overview: As a Paraeducator, you'll support students with disabilities in a structured environment, assisting with behavior management and academic goals.
Essential Functions:
Ensure a safe and consistent environment for students
Support the implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEP) and behavior plans
Monitor, collect, and report data on student progress
Assist educators in devising strategies to reinforce skills and positive behaviors
Participate in planned activities with students, both on and off campus
May include personal care such as toileting, showering, dressing, feeding, etc.
Hours:
Monday through Friday; 7:00 am to 3:00 pm
Qualifications
Bachelors/Associates Degree in a related field preferred but not required
Experience with individuals with disabilities (preferred)
Physical requirements include (but not limited to) bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, sitting/standing for extended periods, lifting up to 50 lbs
Must be 21 or older
High school diploma or equivalent plus ONE of the following:
2 years of experience (3,000 hours) of verifiable experience working with children, or working with adults with disabilities in a residential group home setting
Be the parent (and caregiver) of a child over the age of 7
Hold any degree PLUS a minimum of 12 credits in a related field (education, disability studies, human services, psychology, sociology, etc.)
