Duties
- Safely operate specialized vehicles to transport deceased persons with care and professionalism
- Follow all local, state, and federal transportation laws and regulations while adhering to traffic safety protocols
- Coordinate with funeral directors, medical personnel, and clients to ensure timely and respectful pick-up and delivery arrangements
- Conduct routine vehicle inspections and maintenance checks to ensure safety and reliability of transport vehicles
- Assist with the manual handling of deceased individuals using proper lifting techniques and equipment to ensure dignity and safety
- Maintain accurate documentation for each transport including logs, delivery receipts, and compliance records
- Communicate effectively with clients and team members to provide updates and address any logistical concerns promptly
Skills
- Proven experience as a delivery driver or shuttle driver with a strong understanding of local driving routes
- Experience operating passenger vehicles such as vans, limousines, or shuttle buses; chauffeur driving experience is a plus
- Knowledge of GPS navigation systems for efficient route planning and real-time navigation adjustments
- Familiarity with manual handling techniques for heavy lifting in accordance with safety standards
- Ability to adhere strictly to traffic regulations, state transportation laws, and safety protocols at all times
- Excellent customer service skills with compassionate communication when interacting with families or clients during sensitive situations
- Basic vehicle maintenance skills to perform routine inspections and minor repairs when necessary
- Strong communication skills for coordinating with team members and clients effectively
