What are the responsibilities and job description for the Level 1 Fleet Mechanic position at CROSSWATER CANYON INC?
The Level 1 Fleet Mechanic requires the ability to perform light duty repairs and maintenance. These duties include oil and filter changes, lube, checking fluid levels and basic repair and replacement parts as directed and supervised.
They must possess the ability to interact with staff (at all levels) in a fast-paced environment, sometimes under pressure, remaining pleasant, flexible, proactive, resourceful and efficient, with a high level of professionalism and confidentiality. Expert level written and verbal communication skills, strong decision-making ability and attention to detail are equally important, and they must work independently with little or no supervision.
This position will allow one to impact others through a service mindset centered on making an eternal difference. Responsibilities
- Promote the mission and standards of Answers in Genesis.
- Create a SERVE culture environment in all work done.
- Approach all tasks with a second mile mindset.
- Prioritize personal integrity in all interactions and assignments.
- Execute tasks as they are assigned.
- Inspect fluid levels and tire pressure, adding as necessary to bring to appropriate level.
- Examine assigned vehicle to determine if additional safety or service work is required.
- Communicate with supervisor to obtain required parts.
- Report any damage or defective parts to supervisor.
- Road test and evaluate vehicles.
- Document all work in FMX software.
- Operate all tools in a safe manner.
- Report any safety issues immediately to the supervisor.
- Keep the shop area neat and clean.
- Understand and comply with safety regulations such as OSHA and hazardous waste disposal.
- End each shift by returning all tools to the proper place and cleaning the work area.
- And all other duties and responsibilities assigned by management.
Requirements
- Must agree with and be able to sign our Statement of Faith.
- Maintains a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
- Regularly attends a local Bible-believing church.

- Must be dependable and adapt to changing work priorities with ease.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Good communication and time management skills.
- Physical exertion requires standing and walking all day, repeated bending and lifting, and the ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
- Reliable transportation, current driver’s license with good driving record.
- Have basic skills with computers.
- Able to understand a variety of instructions, provided in written, verbal or scheduled form.
- Team player with a positive attitude.
- General math skills.
- Able to prioritize projects.
- Able to work alone, self-motivated and manage one’s own time.
Education & Experience
- Two or more years’ experience in fleet maintenance
- A valid driver’s license is required.
