What are the responsibilities and job description for the Science Teacher (SY 26'-27') position at CrossTown 119?
Science Teacher (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) | Crosstown 119
Crosstown 119 is a small, faith-based, non-profit school in Orlando designed to feel different—where learning is hands-on, curiosity-driven, and deeply rooted in meaningful experiences.
We are looking for a Science teacher who can create a wonder-filled classroom that inspires curiosity, discovery, and a deep understanding of the world God created.
This role includes teaching three small-group classes (under 10 students each), intentionally grouped by a mix of age and ability:
• 4th–5th Grade: Physics
• 6th–8th Grade: Chemistry
• 9th Grade: Biology
At Crosstown, science is not taught through a single textbook. Using Noeo Science as a foundation, our approach is literature-rich, hands-on, and rooted in real-world exploration. Students engage with multiple sources, cross-reference ideas, and learn how to think critically—not just memorize content.
What this looks like in the classroom:
• Hands-on experiments and demonstrations
• Rich discussions using living books and primary sources
• Inquiry-based learning that encourages questioning and curiosity
• Real-world connections through projects, guest speakers, and field experiences
• Socratic discussions that deepen thinking
• Opportunities for students to pursue interests and help shape their own learning pathways
We’re looking for a teacher who values small-group instruction, meaningful relationships, and bringing learning to life—someone who can meet students where they are while holding high expectations for growth.
Students leave our program with strong scientific thinking skills, the ability to analyze and communicate ideas clearly, and a foundation that prepares them well for future academic settings.
