Job Summary As Technical Operations AVL Leader, the primary responsibility is to work with sites to make the live experiences at Crossroads sites the best they can be. Working with staff and volunteers, technicians and creatives to create experiences that enable God to change lives. This role requires a unique mixture of technical knowledge and ability balanced with strong communication, and project management leadership. This person will be an expert in at least one production discipline (audio, lighting, video, stagecraft, etc) and humbly advise site teams on the best way to execute their production needs. This role will also serve as a liaison between creative directors and technicians helping the team determine the most effective way to execute creative visions. Principal Duties and Responsibilities Serve as in-house consultant for site technicians, answering the “how might we” questions from site staff. Assist site teams’ ministry to volunteers with recruiting, onboard, training and deploying. Serve as level-two tech support, assisting site staff with technical questions as they ariseLead capital and construction projects that impact the AVL infrastructureAssist with fabrication of set-pieces and stagecraft tasksServe as a lead technician for all-church events, camps, night-of-worship, family meeting, etc. Fill in for site technicians for emergencies and vacation coverage, as available and needed. Assist with maintenance of production equipment at Crossroads locations as needed. Assist with load-ins, load-outs, delivery and transport of production equipment as needed. Assist with the execution of ancillary Site Support projects as needed, including but not limited to live worship recordings, video shoots, etc. Research, testing and implementation of new tools, systems, and technologies to support the experience team. Maintain a knowledge of trends in AVL systems and continue to re-evaluate best practices and our implementation of them. Maintain strong vendor relationships to ensure we are getting the best pricing and support possible. Document systems across buildings to assist in remote troubleshooting. An appetite for learning and exploring new technologies, systems, & processes that align with the vision and resources for the ministry. Provide consultation in acquisition of property, assets, and systems that affect the ET team as a whole. A subject matter expert in LED Volumes, Disguise Media Servers, and rigging automation. Education Requirements High School Diploma and equivalent work experience. College Degree preferred. Experience/Skills Requirements Excellent oral and written communications skills.Self-motivated and able to manage multiple tasks. Organized, disciplined with priorities, meticulous attention to detail. Extensive experience in on & off-site troubleshooting and technical support for AVL systems with a good ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines. Previous experience as a technician in a fast-paced environment preferred. Necessary knowledge of DigiCo, GrandMA, Ross consoles and the infrastructure for how they work. Working knowledge of Google Apps, Slack, Planning Center Online, or other software as needed. Experience working in a creative environment - i.e. music or video production, stage/lighting, graphic design, theater. Working knowledge of live audio systems, preferably Digico, Qsys and YamahaWorking knowledge of live video systems, preferably Ross, Evertz, Blackmagic, Renewed Vision, and AJA. Working knowledge of lighting systems, preferably GrandaMA, ETC Paradigm, Martin, Chauvet and Absen LED. Working knowledge of IT systems, specifically Netgear, HP & Cisco switches, VLAN management/routing, and understanding of IT infrastructure and communication protocols. Working knowledge of rigging and rigging hardwareMastery of the AVL basics: cables, connectors, signal types, signal flow and terminology, industry best practices understanding and teaching others to read drawings and diagrams. Proficiency with Mac OS and Windows, specifically networking, graphics and audio i/o. Knowledge of Construction process and building requirements including: Electrical systems Structural loads and supports. Physical Requirements Must be able to walk up to 5 miles, standing, climbing, lifting, pulling, and/or pushing, carrying, reaching, stooping and crouching as duties required. Must be able to lift up 50 lbs. Comfortable in catwalks and tight spaces with proper safety equipment. Able to drive non-CDL straight trucks and back up to a delivery dock. Schedule/Travel Requirements Typical daily schedule is Monday-Friday - hours may vary due to weekend support needs. Must be able to work a flexible schedule including weekdays, weekends and other high impact events at Crossroads. Work on the weekends at designated “All Hand on Deck” events for Crossroads (Superbowl, Easter, Christmas, etc).
