What are the responsibilities and job description for the Summer Programs Teacher position at CROSSROADS SCHOOL FOR ARTS & SCIENCES?
The Summer Teacher is responsible for leading engaging, developmentally appropriate activities for students in grades K–5 within our summer program. This role includes planning and facilitating lessons, supervising children in a classroom setting, and supporting daily program operations such as set-up and clean-up. We are seeking enthusiastic, creative individuals who enjoy working with children and fostering a positive, inclusive learning environment. This is a seasonal, part-time position.
Essential Job Functions:
- Plan and lead age-appropriate lessons, activities, and projects
- Create a fun, safe, and inclusive environment for all students
- Supervise and actively engage with children during structured and unstructured time
- Communicate effectively with children, parents, faculty, and staff
- Manage group dynamics and maintain appropriate behavior expectations
- Collaborate with team members to support overall program success
- Assist with daily set-up, transitions, and clean-up
- Model positive behavior and strong interpersonal skills
- Use sound judgment in supervising and supporting students

Education/Experience:
- Prior experience working with children in grades K–5 in a school, camp, or similar setting
- Familiarity with progressive or student-centered educational approaches is a plus

- Ability to walk throughout campus and navigate stairs
- Ability to lift and move up to 40 pounds
- Ability to actively supervise children in indoor and outdoor environments
