Position Overview
To collaborate with faculty, staff, administration, families/caregivers, and the Learning Specialist to provide direct small group/individual instruction for students in need of academic support.
Essential Job Functions:

Provide high quality, research-driven instruction in reading, writing, and math.

Identify measurable, attainable learning goals for individual students and organize intervention curriculum to assist students in progressing toward identified learning goals.

Monitor student progress toward identified learning goals.

Communicate clearly and regularly with the Student Support Team, classroom teachers, and families regarding student progress.

Provide, score, and interpret academic screenings when existing academic data is insufficient.

Collaborates with Learning Specialists to create Learning Plans for students.

Participate in classroom instruction as needed.

Participate in team meetings and IEP meetings for students when necessary

Collaborate with allied professionals to coordinate student care and maximize progress.

Knowledge of child growth and development and especially of characteristics of students/children in the age group assigned.

Knowledge of prescribed curriculum.

Basic understanding and knowledge of current technology.

Knowledge of learning styles.

Ability to use varied teaching methods. - especially interested in literacy intervention techniques and approaches such as Orton Gillingam, Linamood Bell, Wilson Reading, and Barton methods.

Knowledge of current trends, research and best practices related to reading instruction.
Salary : $30 - $45
