Job Overview:
The Cook is responsible for preparing and serving nutritious, high-quality meals to clients in accordance with prescribed dietary plans, sanitation standards, and facility policies. This role plays a vital part in maintaining a safe, supportive, and recovery-focused environment for individuals receiving inpatient mental health and substance use treatment.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Prepare and cook meals in accordance with established menus, dietary restrictions, and portion control standards.
- Ensure all meals are prepared on schedule and served at appropriate temperatures.
- Follow food safety, sanitation, and infection control standards in compliance with state and local health department regulations.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of kitchen, storage, and dining areas.
- Properly store food and supplies, ensuring accurate rotation and labeling of inventory.
- Assist in menu planning and recipe adjustments as needed to meet patient dietary needs or supply availability.
- Collaborate with nursing and clinical staff to ensure dietary orders and restrictions are accurately followed.
- Report equipment malfunctions or safety hazards promptly to the supervisor.
- Support special dietary requests, therapeutic diets, or cultural/religious accommodations as required.
- Participate in staff meetings and ongoing training related to food safety, infection control, and facility policies.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience in institutional, hospital, long-term care, or behavioral health food service preferred.
- ServSafe or equivalent food handler certification preferred
