Title: Crossroads Elementary School Guidance Counselor
Qualifications: 1. Kentucky Certificate with proper endorsements.
2. Such additional qualifications as the Superintendent or Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
Reports To: Principal
Job Duties/ Responsibilities:
1. Develops a process and procedure for
Planning, implementation and evaluation
of a comprehensive developmental
program of guidance and counseling.
2. Provides a developmental, preventive
guidance program to all students within the school.
3. Works with individuals and groups of
students utilizing a variety of proven strategies in addressing mental, physical and emotional barriers to learning.
4. Works with school and district staff in designing and coordination a testing program that helps students identify abilities, aptitudes, achievements and interests.
5. Participates in required training relative to job assignment, supervisor approved professional growth plan, school/district initiatives or as directed by the Principal.
6. Works with parents, staff and community agencies to meet the mental, physical and emotional needs of students.
7. Uses technology to support instruction; access and manipulate data; enhance professional growth and productivity; communicate and collaborate with colleagues, parents and community; to conduct research/solve problems.
8. Participates in school-related activities, programs or meetings as assigned by the principal and or Superintendent.
9. Adheres to school/district, state/federal policies, regulations and laws.
10. Maintains a variety of records as required by school or district policies, state and federal law, or as assigned by the Principal.
11. Supervises students to ensure student safely.
12. Facilitates successful student transition from one level of education to the next.
13. Utilizes assessment tools; individual planning skills and counseling in guiding individuals and groups of students through development of educational career plans.
14. Works with students in developing behaviors and character traits essential for successful functioning in school, society and the workplace.
15. Provides leadership within the school, district and education profession to improve student learning, as well as, support district and state initiatives.
16. Performs tasks and assumes responsibilities as may be assigned by the Principal or Superintendent.
Terms of Service: Salary and workdays to be established by the Board.
Evaluations: Performance of this job will be evaluated in
accordance with provisions of the Board’s Policy on Evaluation of Certified Personnel.
