Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough patient assessments to identify mental health needs and develop personalized treatment plans.
- Provide individual and group counseling sessions utilizing evidence-based approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, and behavioral therapy.
- Manage crisis situations effectively through crisis intervention strategies and crisis management protocols, ensuring student safety at all times.
- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, families, and healthcare providers to coordinate case management and support services tailored to each student’s needs.
- Document all patient care activities accurately in medical records while adhering to HIPAA regulations to ensure confidentiality.
- Implement specialized interventions for students with developmental disabilities or autism spectrum disorder, including applied behavior analysis (ABA) techniques.
- Facilitate conflict management and behavior management strategies to promote positive social interactions within the school environment.
Skills
- Proven experience in mental health counseling within educational or pediatric settings, with familiarity in school experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of crisis intervention, crisis management, and PTSD care techniques to support students facing trauma or emergencies.
- Expertise in addiction counseling, child & family counseling, and working with individuals with disabilities or developmental delays.
- Proficiency in diagnostic evaluation, patient assessment, data collection, and medical documentation related to behavioral health.
- Skilled in delivering individual and group psychotherapy using approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), behavioral therapy, and Christian counseling if applicable.
- Ability to work effectively with children, adolescents, families, and multidisciplinary teams while demonstrating compassion and cultural sensitivity.
