Job Responsibilities:
- Ability to apply knowledge, principles and procedures to address domestic violence, and homelessness needs.
- Possess the temperament to work closely with individuals and families experiencing domestic violence, homelessness, and co-occurring disorders in a therapeutic milieu. ·
- Ability to supervise, instruct, and organize age appropriate activities for children.
- Must be able to relate well verbally with children from infants to adolescents.
- Demonstrate knowledge of individual differences with respect to gender, race, ethnicity, culture, and age as well as social, economic, developmental, and environmental factors, and understands the importance of these characteristics.
- Knowledge/skills in the area of individual and family functioning.
- Skills in working with resistant individuals and families. · Knowledge and skills in the area of collaborating with other disciplines and services.
- Capable of independent decision making.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and project management skills.
Job Requirements:
- Requires Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in life and/or professional experience
- Ability to work flexible hours including some weekends and evenings.
- Ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality and professionalism.
- General computer skills and the knowledge and ability to operate the agency’s software.
- Valid driver’s license and proof of automobile insurance.
- Excellent assessment, sound holistic counseling and training skills required.
- Knowledge/skills in the area of individual and family functioning.
Desired Experience:
- Knowledge of the Illinois Domestic Violence Act.
- Domestic Violence Professional Certification.
- 40 Hours domestic violence training.
- Two years experience with children and domestic violence preferred
