Student Learning Coach, Alpha - $120,000/year USD

Crossover

POSTED ON 5/25/2026

  • $120,000 annual W2 salary with weekly pay; full health, dental, and vision coverage starting day one
  • On-site position at an Alpha K-8 school in Beverly Hills, CA; La Jolla (San Diego), CA; Palo Alto, CA; Piedmont, CA; South Bay (LA), CA; Greenwich, CT; Boca Raton, FL; Fort Lauderdale, FL; Miami, FL; Miami Beach, FL; Palm Beach Gardens, FL; Chicago, IL; Raleigh, NC; Portland, OR (relocation assistance available)

This role is not about teaching. It is about motivation.

The most meaningful support you can offer a student who reached 99% of their target is to insist it is not finished. If that expectation feels uncomfortable, this is not your role. If it energizes you because maintaining high standards demonstrates your belief in what students can achieve, continue reading.

At Alpha, academic learning happens through AI-driven applications. There are no lectures or textbooks. Approximately 60% of your time is spent facilitating one-hour life-skills workshops covering topics like public speaking, focus, and constructive feedback. Around 30% involves sitting with students individually or in small groups, analyzing their progress via Coachbot analytics, and driving them toward their weekly app targets. The remaining 10% is dedicated to data analysis that informs your coaching strategy for the week ahead. You will not follow a rigid script; workshops provide a foundation, and top performers modify them or create new content when needed.

A successful semester means at least 90% of your cohort achieves their weekly app targets, demonstrates measurable improvement in life skills on Test2Pass, and rates their experience with you at 4 out of 5 or higher. Falling short on any of these three metrics means the job is not being done. As you demonstrate your ability to maintain these standards, you become eligible for advancement to Lead Guide — mentoring new Guides while managing your own cohort — and eventually to Campus Lead, where you oversee an entire school and manage parent engagement.

If you prefer traditional classroom instruction, need a pre-built curriculum, or view warmth and rigor as incompatible, this position is not the right fit. If your background includes athletic coaching, camp counseling, tutoring where you refused to let students give up, or performance work that allowed you to command the attention of middle schoolers, the final step before receiving an offer is a full-day on-campus trial coaching actual Alpha students. If that prospect excites you, submit your application today.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Facilitating one-hour life-skills workshops for K-8 cohorts covering public speaking, focus, feedback skills, and other enduring competencies, modifying the existing framework and creating new sessions when you identify needs
  • Conducting daily individual and small-group motivation sessions designed to drive every student toward their weekly app targets, leveraging Coachbot analytics, Alpha's incentive structures (school currency, leaderboards), and your personal connection with each student to overcome resistance
  • Administering Test2Pass (Alpha's mastery-based evaluation) for each life skill, and continuing to coach students who do not initially pass until they achieve mastery
  • Adjusting your coaching approach across a broad age spectrum, from kindergarteners requiring high energy and physical activity to 8th graders needing direct conversation and accountability
  • Analyzing weekly cohort performance data in Coachbot, pinpointing students falling behind, and modifying your coaching tactics for the upcoming week based on data insights

What You Won’t Be Doing

  • Delivering whiteboard lectures; academic content is embedded in the applications, not your instruction
  • Creating an entire curriculum from scratch; you begin with an established playbook and personalize it with your own presentation and narrative style
  • Passively monitoring students on computers; motivation in this role is active, individualized, and persistent
  • Working through layers of administrative approval to secure resources for students who need help; if a student requires additional coaching time, you decide and implement the same day
  • Marking homework, running standardized test preparation, or handling parent correspondence; Campus Leads manage parent-facing responsibilities, and the other tasks do not exist in this role

Student Learning Coach Key Responsibilities
