What are the responsibilities and job description for the Regional Director of Family Engagement, Alpha - $200,000/year USD position at Crossover?
Families who choose Alpha rely on trusted advisors in every area of their lives. This is the relationship they haven't had—until now.
You'll be the person they reach out to when uncertainty arises, when something doesn't sit right, or when they experience a moment they know you'll appreciate. You'll understand each family deeply enough to sense their needs before they voice them—and you'll possess the judgment and composure to respond with discretion, warmth, and apparent ease. Over time, you won't simply represent their child's school. You'll become woven into the way they live through this season of family life.
Trust at this level doesn't emerge from a system. It grows through presence—steady, daily, unhurried. You'll be there during morning arrival and afternoon departure, at evening gatherings that matter, and in private conversations that never appear on a schedule. You'll create a community families feel invested in protecting, where belonging comes naturally and referrals follow because the experience merits them.
Alpha operates outside the traditional school framework. Students complete their core academics in two hours daily using AI-driven applications, then devote the remaining time to public speaking, critical thinking, and applied projects. No lectures. No filler assignments. Performance in the top 1% nationally. The families who select it are investing in something they value deeply—but that belief requires ongoing care.
You'll sustain that dialogue with each family, through every question and uncertainty, for the duration of their enrollment. If advocating for an unconventional model to discerning skeptics feels burdensome, this position isn't right for you. If it represents the most compelling conversation you could be engaged in, continue reading.

Serve as the trusted relationship anchoring every family's experience at Alpha. Maintain their confidence through challenging moments, cultivate a community where belonging feels intentional, and establish conditions where satisfied families naturally become vocal supporters.

What You Will Be Doing
- Take full ownership of the relationship with every family on campus—the evolving, deepening connection that ensures parents feel recognized, not merely attended to
- Identify potential concerns before they surface as conversations, and address them with the discretion and interpersonal skill that preserves trust
- Maintain visible presence where families gather: morning arrival (7–9am), afternoon departure (2–4pm), evening parent functions, and select weekend activities
- Develop a campus community with authentic character—events, rituals, and interactions that foster a sense of belonging to something worth safeguarding
- Nurture parent advocates naturally, delivering experiences of such consistent quality that referrals emerge as a logical result
- Sustain the ongoing dialogue about Alpha's AI-powered approach with families managing screen time questions, doubtful extended relatives, and periodic uncertainty—not only at enrollment, but throughout their campus journey
- Recognize when a family is not aligned and manage that situation with the same care you apply to all interactions—preserving the community is integral to serving it
- Establish the systems and routines this position demands in a setting where the framework is still taking shape
- Overseeing enrollment—that responsibility belongs to the Admissions Director; your role starts when families become part of the campus and grows from that point
- Operating from behind a desk—your community presence defines the role
- Maintaining standard 9–5 office hours—early mornings, late afternoons, and evening functions are integral to the position, not occasional add-ons
- Relying on administrative infrastructure, established procedures, or a complete team—you function with significant autonomy and develop what's needed
- Approaching family relationships as transactional accounts—this role values authentic connection over procedural adherence
Serve as the trusted relationship anchoring every family's experience at Alpha. Maintain their confidence through challenging moments, cultivate a community where belonging feels intentional, and establish conditions where satisfied families naturally become vocal supporters.
Basic Requirements
- Currently reside within commuting distance of one of these campuses OR willing to relocate within 60 days (preference for candidates with existing community roots): Scottsdale, AZ; Palo Alto, CA; Piedmont, CA; Lake Forest, CA; San Francisco, CA; Greenwich, CT; Bethesda, MD; New York City, NY; Austin, TX; Fort Worth, TX; Houston, TX; or Kirkland, WA
- Legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
- 5 years in a relationship-focused role serving high-net-worth or ultra-high-net-worth families—private school admissions, luxury hospitality, philanthropy, or any setting where discretion, warmth, and interpersonal fluency were as critical as competence
- Proven capacity to maintain relationships through challenging situations with sophisticated families and preserve trust throughout
- Authentic presence and communication approach that builds confidence quickly with affluent, high-expectation families—not polished in a manner that appears rehearsed
- Personal exposure to independent, private, or non-traditional education—through professional experience or as a parent—that provides you genuine credibility when families challenge the model
- Sincere commitment to AI-powered education and the capacity to sustain that conviction authentically across years of parent relationships, beyond the initial enrollment discussion
- Availability for flexible scheduling: early mornings (7–9am), late afternoons (2–4pm), evening events 2–3x/month, and occasional weekend activities
Exceptional candidates will have at least one of the following:
- Established connections within the local affluent community that would provide you an immediate, organic presence on campus
- Private school or independent school background with demonstrated success in family retention and community building—not merely enrollment metrics
- Experience managing high-stakes family relationships where your judgment and discretion were the foundation of sustained trust
- A natural ability for designing experiences—events, moments, settings—where individuals feel connected to something worth defending
- Prior startup or early-stage exposure where you built from the ground up and remained steady through rapid change
