What are the responsibilities and job description for the Life Skills Coach, Alpha - $100,000/year USD position at Crossover?
- Springfield, MA location — on-site role with relocation assistance available
- $100,000 annual compensation, distributed weekly. Full health, dental, and vision coverage begins on day one
Alpha operates differently from conventional schools. Students complete a full day's worth of academics in roughly two hours using adaptive software. No traditional lectures. No textbooks. Your role centers on what technology cannot replicate: developing life skills in Pre-K through 8th grade students — public speaking, concentration, feedback exchange. You will spend half your time facilitating hands-on workshops guided by structured playbooks and narrative techniques. The remaining time is dedicated to individual and small-group sessions where you analyze student progress via Coachbot analytics from adaptive learning platforms and drive them toward achieving 100% of weekly objectives. Mastery is validated through Test2Pass assessments, not attendance or effort grades.
During your first year, you will take ownership of a student cohort and become fluent in Alpha's methodology: life skills workshops, motivational coaching, and mastery-validated assessment. Once you demonstrate the ability to hold all students accountable to 100% goal attainment while maintaining satisfaction scores above 90%, advancement to Lead Guide becomes available — a role where you mentor other Guides without leaving direct student work. The highest performers in this role do not merely transform individual students; they redefine how an entire campus functions.
If your background includes years of coaching, counseling, or mentoring young people and you have wished to eliminate traditional instruction in favor of purely developmental work, this opportunity is designed for you. Submit your application now.
What You Will Be Doing
- Facilitating one-hour life skills workshops addressing public speaking, concentration, teamwork, and feedback skills, adjusting delivery style and energy for Pre-K through 8th grade audiences
- Conducting daily individual and small-group coaching sessions to review student progress in adaptive learning platforms (via Coachbot analytics), establish objectives, and drive students toward 100% weekly goal completion
- Administering and evaluating Test2Pass assessments to verify genuine mastery of each life skill, distinguishing it from mere participation
- Deploying targeted interventions when students experience academic or engagement setbacks — diagnosing underlying issues and constructing actionable recovery strategies
- Cultivating authentic relationships with every student to establish the trust necessary for effective coaching through resistance, distraction, and moments of doubt
- Delivering lectures or traditional academic content (core subjects are learned through adaptive applications, not instructor-led sessions)
- Creating lesson plans or original curriculum (Alpha supplies life skills playbooks; your responsibility is to execute them with energy and narrative skill)
- Handling parent communications or administrative duties (Campus Leads manage these areas; your focus remains on students)
- Evaluating homework or preparing students for standardized tests (these elements are not part of the Alpha model)
- Operating independently (you work within a campus team structure alongside Lead Guides, Campus Leads, and colleagues who provide feedback and mutual accountability)
Drive every student in your cohort to love attending school, achieve mastery in essential life skills, and reach 100% of their academic objectives through adaptive learning technology.
Basic Requirements

- 3 years working directly with Pre-K through 8th grade students (in teaching, coaching, counseling, or youth program leadership capacities)
- Demonstrated experience motivating or coaching Pre-K–8 students toward academic, behavioral, athletic, or extracurricular objectives, with at least one concrete example you can articulate (including the objective, your actions, and the result)
- Ability to provide a brief life-skills workshop outline: subject matter, learning objectives, data-based mastery verification method, and facilitation approach
- Daily usage of generative AI platforms (e.g., ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude)
- Availability to work on-site at Alpha's Springfield, MA campus (relocation assistance provided)
- Authorization to work in the United States without requiring visa sponsorship
- Background in youth sports coaching, camp leadership, or after-school programming where you held direct responsibility for motivating children toward measurable goals
