What are the responsibilities and job description for the Learning Guide, Alpha - $100,000/year USD position at Crossover?
- Springfield, MA, in-person role (relocation assistance available)
- $100,000 annual compensation, paid weekly. Full health, dental, and vision coverage from day one
Alpha operates differently from conventional schools. Students complete a full academic day in roughly two hours using adaptive software. No traditional lectures. No physical textbooks. Your responsibility is what technology cannot replicate: mentoring Pre-K through 8th grade students in life competencies such as public speaking, concentration, and constructive feedback exchange. You'll spend half your time facilitating hands-on workshops guided by structured playbooks and narrative techniques. The remaining half involves sitting with students individually or in small clusters, examining their adaptive learning progress via Coachbot analytics, and driving them toward 100% weekly goal completion. Mastery is verified through Test2Pass assessments, not participation metrics.
This role is highly selective. Your first year focuses on playbook mastery: running workshops, conducting motivation sessions, overseeing mastery assessments, and demonstrating your ability to hold every student to full goal completion. Succeed in this, and advancement to Lead Guide becomes available. You must bring warmth, commanding presence, and uncompromising standards. Submit your application now.
What You Will Be Doing
- Facilitating one-hour life competency workshops covering public speaking, concentration, teamwork, and feedback exchange, adjusting your delivery and energy for Pre-K through 8th grade audiences
- Conducting daily individual and small-group motivation sessions to review student progress in adaptive learning platforms (via Coachbot analytics), establish goals, and drive students to achieve 100% of weekly objectives
- Overseeing and assessing Test2Pass evaluations to verify genuine mastery of each life skill, ensuring completion reflects true understanding rather than mere participation
- Implementing focused interventions when students lag academically or in engagement—diagnosing underlying issues and creating targeted recovery strategies
- Cultivating authentic relationships with every student, establishing trust that allows you to guide them through resistance, distraction, and moments of self-doubt
- Delivering lectures or traditional academic content (core subjects are taught through adaptive platforms, not by you)
- Creating lesson plans or curriculum materials from the ground up (Alpha supplies life skills playbooks; your role is to execute them with energy and compelling storytelling)
- Handling parent communications or administrative school functions (Campus Leads manage these areas; your focus remains on student coaching)
- Evaluating homework or preparing students for standardized tests (these elements do not exist in this model)
- Operating independently (you belong to a campus team including Lead Guides, Campus Leads, and colleagues who provide mutual feedback and accountability)
Guarantee that every student in your cohort develops a love for school, achieves mastery of critical life skills, and reaches 100% of their academic targets through adaptive learning technology.
Basic Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in any discipline.
- 3 years of direct experience with Pre-K through 8th grade students (in teaching, coaching, counseling, or youth program leadership capacities).
- Demonstrated experience motivating or coaching Pre-K–8 students toward academic, behavioral, athletic, or extracurricular objectives, with at least one concrete example you can articulate (including the goal, your specific actions, and the result achieved).
- Willingness to embrace a coaching-focused model where all academic instruction is delivered by the learning platform. Your function is motivating and guiding, not teaching core content.
- Daily usage of generative AI tools (such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude).
- Availability to work in-person at Alpha's Springfield, MA campus (relocation assistance provided).
- Legal authorization to work in the United States without requiring visa sponsorship.
- Background in youth sports coaching, camp leadership, or after-school programming where you held direct accountability for motivating children to achieve defined goals.
- History of significant personal achievement (academic distinctions, competitive athletics, or leadership positions that demanded sustained excellence).
- Innate storytelling skill: you can maintain the attention of Pre-K through 8th grade students for an hour without elevating your voice.
- Proven ability to engage disengaged or resistant students and convert them into active, willing participants.
- Experience supporting students who receive special education services.
