What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lead Instructional Coach, Alpha - $200,000/year USD position at Crossover?
- In-person locations: Beverly Hills, CA; Piedmont, CA; Greenwich, CT; Boca Raton, FL; Miami, FL; Boston, MA; Raleigh, NC; New York City, NY; Seattle, WA (relocation assistance available)
- $200,000 annually, paid weekly | Health, dental, and vision coverage starting day one
Alpha students don't attend traditional lectures. They advance through adaptive applications at double the speed of conventional classrooms while developing practical life skills simultaneously. Your responsibility is ensuring three core commitments are met for every student in your cohort: genuine enthusiasm for learning, accelerated progress at 2x speed, and acquisition of competencies beyond standard curricula. You simultaneously develop the Guides who uphold these commitments throughout your campus.
All actions are data-informed and conducted in person daily. Your time divides between your student cohort and the Guides under your mentorship — with identical expectations for both: demonstrable advancement, without compromise. When a Guide's session underperforms, documentation isn't the response; you observe, analyze, and resolve it before the day ends.
You'll witness reserved students presenting with confidence to adults. You'll observe a child who previously "despised school" requesting extended hours. And you'll recognize that the expectations you maintained are precisely what enabled their growth, because upholding standards demonstrates your belief in their potential.
You may initiate a completely new campus from the ground up, establishing the foundational culture that shapes the institution. As the campus evolves, your role transitions from operational lead to coaching authority, cultivating the team that expands Alpha's approach throughout your region.
If this opportunity appeals to you, submit your application now.
What You Will Be Doing
- Facilitating one-hour interactive life skills and social-emotional learning (SEL) sessions with K-8 students covering subjects like public speaking and concentration, adhering to Alpha's established framework
- Conducting daily motivational sessions that ensure 100% student achievement of weekly app objectives through age-appropriate tools including school currency systems and leaderboards
- Developing Guides via direct observation, specific feedback, and practical training to ensure they execute sessions with equivalent energy and accuracy
- Analyzing Coachbot data and student records to determine intervention needs, then personally addressing those requirements
- Directly mentoring your assigned student cohort, demonstrating the coaching and motivational approaches you require from all Guides
- Creating lesson plans or developing curriculum. Students progress through adaptive applications; your focus is elevating the people supporting them.
- Delivering traditional classroom lectures. You're primarily an engager (80%) rather than a content expert (20%); if you prefer whiteboard instruction, this role isn't suitable.
- Compromising standards due to parent or administrative pressure. A 99% score means "not yet" — and you'll have organizational support to maintain that position.
- Working from an office processing administrative documents. The majority of your time involves direct interaction with students and Guides.
- Waiting extended periods for performance insights. Results appear live in Coachbot and adjustments occur immediately.
Execute Alpha's 3 Promises for both your student cohort and the Guides you develop: universal student engagement with learning, 2x accelerated progress, and development of practical life competencies.
