K-8 Teacher, Alpha - $120,000/year USD

Crossover
Seattle, WA Full Time
POSTED ON 5/18/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 8/10/2026
  • $120,000 annual W2 salary with weekly pay; health, dental, and vision benefits from day one
  • 40 hours per week, on-site at Alpha School's Kirkland, WA campus (possible temporary assignment at a different Alpha campus until Kirkland opens)
  • Valid Washington State Teaching Certificate mandatory. No active certificate means no interview.

You hold a WA teaching certificate. The real question is whether you want to keep lecturing, grading papers, and delivering a standardized curriculum to every child.

Your role here is not traditional teaching. You coach. You motivate. The most meaningful support you can offer a student who reaches 99% of their weekly target is to refuse to accept it as complete. If that idea troubles you, this role is not for you. If it energizes you because maintaining high standards is how you demonstrate belief in a student's potential, continue reading.

Alpha students complete their academic learning through AI-driven adaptive applications. There are no lectures, no textbooks, and no lesson plans to prepare on weekends. Approximately 60% of your time is spent facilitating one-hour life-skills workshops covering topics like public speaking, focus, and constructive feedback. Around 30% involves meeting with students individually or in small groups, analyzing Coachbot data, and driving each student toward their weekly app progression goals. The remaining 10% is dedicated to reviewing performance data and translating it into actionable coaching strategies for the following week. You will not follow a rigid script; the most effective Guides adapt existing workshops and create new content when they identify a need.

Success here is not defined by engaging activities. It is defined by measurable progress. A semester is successful when at least 90% of your cohort demonstrates pre-to-post improvement on Test2Pass, at least 90% meet their weekly learning-app progression targets, and students rate their experience with you at 4 out of 5 or higher. Fall short on any of those three metrics and the role is not a fit. As you demonstrate your ability to uphold standards, you become eligible for advancement to Lead Guide—mentoring newer Guides while continuing to lead a cohort—and eventually to Campus Lead.

If you prefer ready-made curriculum, or if you believe warmth and rigor cannot coexist, this position is not right for you. If your WA certificate is current and you are excited to coach K-8 students toward concrete outcomes rather than lecture from a textbook, submit your application today.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Facilitating one-hour life-skills workshops for K-8 cohorts covering public speaking, focus, and feedback skills, modifying existing materials and creating new sessions when you identify content gaps
  • Conducting Test2Pass pre- and post-assessments and coaching students who have not yet achieved mastery until they demonstrate competency
  • Holding daily individual and small-group coaching sessions that drive every student toward their weekly app progression goals, leveraging Coachbot analytics, Alpha's reward structures (school currency, leaderboards), and your personal connection with each student to overcome resistance
  • Analyzing weekly performance metrics, identifying struggling students early, and implementing intervention strategies within the same week
  • Serving as the adult who maintains high expectations and whom students trust; warmth creates the foundation to challenge, and challenging students signals your confidence in their abilities

What You Won’t Be Doing

  • Delivering lectures at a whiteboard or preparing daily lesson plans; academic content is delivered through the apps, not by you
  • Creating curriculum from the ground up; you execute a proven framework with energy and narrative skill
  • Passively monitoring students on computers or allowing them to disengage throughout the day; motivation in this role is active, individualized, and persistent
  • Reducing a weekly target or advancing a student without proven mastery to maintain momentum or sidestep difficult discussions
  • Assessing homework or handling parent communications

K-8 Teacher Key Responsibilities
