You catch a student's miscue and instantly know which phonemic weakness to address. You create phonics lessons from scratch without needing a scripted curriculum. That's baseline. You create small-group reading workshops using live student performance data, and you facilitate motivation sessions that ensure 100% of students reach their weekly app targets using Alpha's motivational framework (school currency, leaderboards, age-appropriate gamification).

Your initial months center on building rapport and credibility. Workshops must be engaging, appropriately leveled, and demonstrably effective. Student satisfaction metrics and "love your Guide" survey results (target 90% ) provide direct measurement. Once you establish that foundation, your responsibilities expand: analyzing AI-generated performance insights to refine upcoming instruction, communicating fluency progress and decoding milestones to families, and influencing how Alpha's K-2 reading framework develops in tandem with adaptive technology. What You Will Be Doing

• Creating and facilitating small-group K-2 reading workshops rooted in structured-literacy approaches (Orton-Gillingham, Wilson, LETRS, IMSE, or equivalent), informed by live student data
• Facilitating daily motivation sessions that ensure 100% of students achieve their weekly adaptive-app targets, leveraging Alpha's motivational framework (school currency, leaderboards, age-appropriate gamification)
• Conducting and evaluating running records, fluency assessments, and decoding measures to monitor progress and refine subsequent instruction
• Analyzing AI-generated performance insights from Alpha's adaptive learning platforms to differentiate instruction dynamically, not only during preparation
• Serving as the approachable, energetic adult presence your K-2 students anticipate seeing daily
  
  

What You Won’t Be Doing

• Implementing a published reading curriculum, scripted lesson sequence, or district pacing calendar; you create lessons directly from student performance data
• Delivering whole-class lectures; all teaching occurs in small, targeted groups while students engage with academic content through adaptive platforms
• Serving as a reading consultant, teacher coach, or district-level specialist; you work in the classroom with children every day
• Managing a traditional classroom schedule — sequential subject lectures, homework correction, test preparation; your time is structured around workshops, motivation sessions, and data-informed small groups
• Assigning grades for homework or report cards; student advancement is documented through app analytics and your running records
  
  

Instructional Coordinator Key Responsibilities

Provide structured-literacy instruction that produces measurable acceleration in K-2 reading performance across phonics, fluency, and decoding domains.

Basic Requirements

• Structured-literacy certification (Orton-Gillingham, LETRS, Wilson Reading System, IMSE, CERI, Neuhaus, UFLI, or equivalent) OR a Master's degree in reading instruction
• Bachelor's degree in any discipline, plus 2 years of full-time K-2 structured reading instruction in a school or clinical environment, employing systematic phonics or structured literacy
• Proven capacity to create original reading lessons and explain your instructional content and methods without depending on a published program
• Willingness to work on-site full-time at an Alpha campus: Phoenix, AZ; Oklahoma City or Tulsa, OK; Fort Worth (Keller), Dallas, Plano, or The Woodlands, TX; or Park City (Salt Lake City), UT (relocation assistance available)
• Willingness to teach all K-2 students (not exclusively struggling readers) and incorporate AI and adaptive-learning platforms into everyday instruction
• Legal authorization to work in the United States without requiring visa sponsorship
  
  

Nice-to-have Requirements

• Direct experience using AI-powered or adaptive reading platforms (e.g., Amira, Lexia, i-Ready, Reading Plus) for instructional planning or student data interpretation
• Documented reading outcomes (fluency improvement in WCPM, accuracy gains, decoding level progression) you can quantify with specific metrics
• Experience in non-traditional or innovative educational settings (charter, micro-school, Montessori, hybrid)

Working with us

This is a full-time (40 hours per week), long-term position. The position is immediately available and requires entering into an independent contractor agreement with Crossover as a Contractor of Record. The compensation level for this role is $50 USD/hour, which equates to $100,000 USD/year assuming 40 hours per week and 50 weeks per year. The payment period is weekly.
