Educational Technology Specialist, Alpha - $100,000/year USD

Crossover
Houston, TX Full Time
POSTED ON 7/28/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 10/19/2026
  • $100,000 annual salary, paid weekly, with health, dental, and vision coverage starting day one
  • On-site position at a single Alpha campus location: Phoenix, AZ; Oklahoma City or Tulsa, OK; Fort Worth (Keller), Dallas, Plano, or The Woodlands, TX; or Park City (Salt Lake City), UT (relocation assistance available)
  • Full-time 40-hour schedule, 100% classroom-based with kindergarten through second-grade students

You've dedicated years to becoming fluent in structured literacy. Orton-Gillingham, LETRS, Wilson, IMSE, or perhaps a Master's in reading instruction. You listen to a student's reading error and immediately identify which phonemic skill needs attention. You build phonics lessons from scratch, no commercial program necessary. That's the baseline. It's not what sets you apart.

What sets you apart is the way six-year-olds respond when you enter the room. At Alpha, this position is a Guide role first: a dynamic, magnetic presence children are excited to work with. Your structured-literacy background opens the door; your capacity to captivate a K-2 classroom for a 20-minute workshop is what earns you the offer. If "dynamic, magnetic presence" isn't language that describes you, this position isn't the right fit.

Alpha has reimagined conventional schooling. Students progress through academic content independently via AI-adaptive applications — no traditional lectures, no textbooks, no district pacing calendars. Your position represents the one area where human expertise cannot be replaced. You create small-group reading workshops based on live student performance data, and you facilitate motivation sessions that push 100% of students toward their weekly app targets using Alpha's motivational framework (school currency, leaderboards, age-appropriate game mechanics).

Your early months focus on building credibility in the classroom. Workshops must be engaging, appropriately leveled, and demonstrably effective. Student satisfaction metrics and "love your Guide" survey results (target 90% ) provide direct measurement. Once you've established that foundation, your responsibilities expand: analyzing AI-generated performance reports to refine upcoming instruction, communicating fluency improvements and decoding progress to parents, and influencing how Alpha's K-2 reading framework develops alongside the adaptive platforms. As Alpha opens additional campuses, the systems you create become the blueprint for reading instruction across the organization.

Before you're hired, you'll submit a brief video in which you tell an engaging story suited for young children, and you'll complete a full-day campus visit working directly with K-2 learners. Low energy with children will disqualify you, regardless of credential strength. That's intentional. Apply today.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Creating and facilitating small-group K-2 reading workshops rooted in structured-literacy approaches (Orton-Gillingham, Wilson, LETRS, IMSE, or similar), informed by live student performance data
  • Running daily motivation sessions designed to drive 100% of students to reach their weekly adaptive-app targets, leveraging Alpha's motivational framework (school currency, leaderboards, age-appropriate game mechanics)
  • Conducting and evaluating running records, fluency assessments, and decoding diagnostics to monitor progress and refine subsequent instruction
  • Analyzing AI-generated performance reports from Alpha's adaptive learning platforms to differentiate instruction in the moment, not only during advance planning
  • Serving as the approachable, energetic adult your K-2 learners are eager to see each day

What You Won’t Be Doing

  • Implementing a commercial reading curriculum, scripted lesson plan, or district pacing calendar; you create your own instruction based on student data
  • Delivering whole-class lectures; all teaching occurs in small, targeted groups while students work through academic subjects on adaptive apps
  • Serving as a reading consultant, instructional coach for other teachers, or district-level specialist; you are classroom-based with children daily
  • Managing a traditional classroom schedule — subject-by-subject lectures, homework correction, test preparation; your scheduled time consists of workshops, motivation sessions, and data-informed small groups
  • Evaluating homework or issuing report cards; student achievement is tracked through app analytics and your assessment records

Educational Technology Specialist Key Responsibilities

Provide structured-literacy instruction that produces measurable acceleration in K-2 reading performance across phonics, fluency, and decoding.

Basic Requirements

  • Structured-literacy certification (Orton-Gillingham, LETRS, Wilson Reading System, IMSE, CERI, Neuhaus, UFLI, or equivalent) OR a Master's degree in reading instruction
  • Bachelor's degree in any field, plus 2 years of full-time K-2 structured reading instruction in a school or clinical environment, using systematic phonics or structured literacy
  • Proven ability to create your own reading lessons and clearly explain what you teach and how, without depending on a published program
  • Availability to work in person full-time at one Alpha campus: Phoenix, AZ; Oklahoma City or Tulsa, OK; Fort Worth (Keller), Dallas, Plano, or The Woodlands, TX; or Park City (Salt Lake City), UT (relocation assistance available)
  • Willingness to teach all K-2 students (not exclusively struggling readers) and to incorporate AI and adaptive-learning platforms into daily instruction
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship

Nice-to-have Requirements

  • Direct experience with AI-powered or adaptive reading platforms (e.g., Amira, Lexia, i-Ready, Reading Plus) for instructional planning or student data interpretation
  • Documented reading outcomes (fluency gains in WCPM, accuracy increases, decoding level progression) you can cite with specific numbers
  • Experience in non-traditional or innovative educational settings (charter, micro-school, Montessori, hybrid)
  • Experience in performance, youth sports coaching, or otherwise engaging a K-2 audience outside formal reading instruction
