  • $120,000 annual W2 salary paid weekly; health, dental, and vision benefits from day one
  • On-site at an Alpha K-8 campus in Beverly Hills, CA; Palo Alto, CA; Piedmont, CA; Greenwich, CT; Boca Raton, FL; Fort Lauderdale, FL; Miami Beach, FL; Palm Beach Gardens, FL; Chicago, IL; Raleigh, NC; Portland, OR (relocation assistance available)

This is not a teaching role. This is a motivation role.

The most powerful thing you can do for a student who reaches 99% of their goal is to hold the line and not accept it as complete. If that expectation feels uncomfortable, this role is not for you. If it energizes you—because maintaining a high bar demonstrates your belief in a student's ability to reach it—continue reading.

At Alpha, academic learning happens through AI-driven applications. No traditional lectures. No textbooks. Approximately 60% of your time is spent facilitating one-hour life-skills workshops covering topics like public speaking, focus, and how to give and receive constructive feedback. Around 30% of your time involves working with students individually or in small groups, analyzing their progress via Coachbot analytics, and guiding each one toward their weekly app targets. The remaining 10% is dedicated to reviewing data and translating insights into actionable coaching strategies for the following week. You will not be reading from a script; workshops serve as a foundation, and top performers in this position customize them and create new content when they identify a need.

A successful semester means at least 90% of your cohort achieves their weekly app goals, demonstrates measurable improvement in life skills on Test2Pass, and rates their experience with you at 4 out of 5 or higher. Falling short on any of these three measures means the role's expectations have not been met. As you demonstrate your ability to uphold these standards, opportunities open up to advance to Lead Guide—mentoring newer Guides while continuing to manage your own cohort—and eventually to Campus Lead, where you oversee an entire school and manage parent relationships.

If you are drawn to traditional classroom teaching, prefer a fully prepared curriculum, or think that warmth and rigor cannot coexist, this position is not a fit. If you have worked as an athletic coach, a camp counselor, a tutor who refused to let students give up, or a performer capable of commanding the attention of 12-year-olds, the final interview step is a full day on campus coaching actual Alpha students. If that prospect excites you more than anything else, submit your application today.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Facilitating one-hour life-skills workshops for K-8 cohorts on subjects including public speaking, focus, giving and receiving feedback, and other enduring competencies, customizing the existing framework and creating new sessions when you identify a need
  • Conducting daily individual and small-group motivation sessions that drive every student toward their weekly app targets, leveraging Coachbot analytics, Alpha's incentive structures (school currency, leaderboards), and your personal connection with each student to overcome reluctance
  • Administering Test2Pass (Alpha's mastery-based evaluation) for each life skill, and continuing to coach students who do not meet the standard until they achieve mastery
  • Adjusting your coaching approach across a broad age spectrum, from kindergarteners who require high energy and physical activity to 8th graders who respond to direct conversation and accountability
  • Analyzing weekly cohort performance data in Coachbot, pinpointing students who are falling behind, and modifying your coaching strategy for the next week based on what the data reveals

What You Won’t Be Doing

  • Delivering instruction at a whiteboard; academic content is embedded in the applications, not delivered by you
  • Creating a full curriculum from scratch; you begin with an established playbook and customize it with your own style and narrative approach
  • Passively monitoring students at computers; motivation in this role is proactive, individualized, and persistent
  • Working through bureaucratic approval processes to secure resources for students who need help; if a student requires additional coaching time, you decide and execute the same day
  • Grading assignments, conducting standardized test preparation, or handling parent communications; Campus Leads manage parent-facing responsibilities, and the other tasks do not apply here

Education Coach Key Responsibilities

Ensure that every student in your K-8 cohort reaches their weekly learning targets, achieves mastery in each life skill, and finishes the year saying they valued their experience with you.

Basic Requirements

  • Willing to work on-site at an Alpha campus in Beverly Hills, CA; Palo Alto, CA; Piedmont, CA; Greenwich, CT; Boca Raton, FL; Fort Lauderdale, FL; Miami Beach, FL; Palm Beach Gardens, FL; Chicago, IL; Raleigh, NC; Portland, OR (relocation assistance provided)
  • Bachelor's degree in any field
  • Minimum of 3 years of direct experience working with K-8 students (classroom instruction, coaching, tutoring, camp counseling, or youth program leadership)
  • A concrete example you can articulate of motivating a K-8 student toward a challenging goal: the objective, your actions, and the result
  • Comfort with AI managing instructional delivery while you concentrate on motivation and life-skills coaching
  • Legal authorization to work in the US without requiring visa sponsorship

Nice-to-have Requirements

  • Background in youth sports coaching, debate, camp leadership, theater, or after-school programs where you held direct responsibility for motivating children toward defined objectives
  • History of personal high achievement (academic, athletic, or professional), such that maintaining high standards for others is ingrained, not performative
  • Storytelling ability and stage presence capable of engaging a room of 12-year-olds for an hour without needing to raise your voice
