What are the responsibilities and job description for the Education Coach, Alpha - $120,000/year USD position at Crossover?
- $120,000/year W2 salary with weekly pay; health, dental, and vision benefits begin day one
- On-site role at an Alpha K-8 campus located in Beverly Hills, CA; La Jolla (San Diego), CA; Palo Alto, CA; Piedmont, CA; South Bay (LA), CA; Greenwich, CT; Boca Raton, FL; Fort Lauderdale, FL; Miami Beach, FL; Palm Beach Gardens, FL; Chicago, IL; Raleigh, NC; Portland, OR (relocation support available)
The most meaningful way to support a student who reaches 99% of their target is to refuse to accept it as finished. If that principle unsettles you, this role is not for you. If it energizes you—because maintaining high expectations is how you demonstrate belief in a student's capability—read on.
At Alpha, students complete their academic learning through AI-driven applications. There are no lectures or textbooks. Roughly 60% of your time will be spent facilitating one-hour life-skills workshops covering topics such as public speaking, focus, and constructive feedback. Approximately 30% of your week involves meeting with students individually or in small groups, analyzing their progress via Coachbot analytics, and guiding each toward their weekly app targets. The remaining 10% is dedicated to data analysis, which informs your coaching strategy for the week ahead. You will not follow a rigid script; workshops serve as a foundation, and top performers in this role modify them and create new content as needed.
A successful semester means at least 90% of students in your cohort meet their weekly app goals, demonstrate measurable improvement in life skills via Test2Pass, and provide a rating of 4/5 or higher for their experience with you. Falling short on any of these metrics means the role has not been fulfilled. Once you demonstrate your ability to uphold these standards, advancement opportunities include Lead Guide—mentoring newer Guides while continuing to lead a cohort—and eventually Campus Lead, where you oversee an entire school and manage parent engagement.
If you prefer traditional classroom instruction, need pre-built curriculum, or see warmth and rigor as incompatible, this position is not a fit. If your background includes athletic coaching, camp counseling, tutoring students through resistance, or performing in front of middle schoolers, the final stage before an offer is a full day on campus coaching actual Alpha students. If that prospect excites you, apply today.
What You Will Be Doing
- Facilitating one-hour life-skills workshops for K-8 cohorts covering public speaking, focus, feedback exchange, and other foundational skills, modifying the existing playbook and creating new sessions as you identify needs
- Conducting daily individual and small-group motivation sessions to drive every student toward their weekly app targets, leveraging Coachbot analytics, Alpha's reward structures (school currency, leaderboards), and personal relationships to overcome resistance
- Administering Test2Pass (Alpha's mastery-based life-skills assessment) and coaching students who do not achieve passing scores until mastery is demonstrated
- Adjusting your coaching approach across a broad age spectrum, from kindergarteners requiring dynamic, movement-based engagement to 8th graders needing direct conversation and accountability
- Analyzing weekly cohort performance metrics in Coachbot, pinpointing students falling behind, and recalibrating your coaching tactics for the upcoming week based on data insights
- Delivering instruction at a whiteboard; academic content is embedded in the apps, not delivered by you
- Creating a full curriculum from scratch; you begin with an established playbook and personalize it with your own style and narrative skills
- Passively monitoring students on devices; motivation in this role is hands-on, individualized, and persistent
- Working through layers of approval to secure support for students in need; if a student requires additional coaching, you decide and implement immediately
- Grading assignments, conducting standardized test preparation, or handling parent outreach; Campus Leads manage parent communication, and the other tasks do not apply here
Ensure every student in your K-8 cohort achieves their weekly learning targets, masters each life skill, and finishes the year expressing genuine appreciation for you.
