Director of Member Relations, Alpha - $200,000/year USD

Crossover
Chicago, IL Full Time
POSTED ON 8/10/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 11/2/2026
You have told a family the truth when it cost you a sale. You have walked away from revenue because fit mattered more than the close. In this role, that instinct is the requirement.

Alpha is a private K-12 school network where students complete academics in roughly two hours daily and dedicate the remainder of their time to building applied skills—and the test scores validate the approach. This is an on-site position at a single campus, in person, full-time, across one of 12 markets: Los Angeles, Santa Barbara, La Jolla, or Malibu, CA; Austin, TX; Atlanta, GA; Boca Raton, FL; Boston, MA; Chicago, IL; Greenwich, CT; Nashville, TN; or Park City, UT. You will select your preferred market during the application process.

The families who enroll pay a premium tuition, conduct extensive research, and will challenge you on rigor and expectations within the first ten minutes. The model succeeds only when every enrolled family genuinely wants what the school offers. In a small cohort environment, a single misaligned family alters the experience for everyone.

You will be responsible for the entire admissions cycle at one campus. Initial inquiry, fit assessment, campus visit, shadow day, and decision delivery. You are the single point of contact for each family from their first question to enrollment day. A typical week includes: responding to all inquiries within four hours, guiding a skeptical parent through the afternoon program block, facilitating a shadow day, updating HubSpot records after each touchpoint, and informing a family that their child would thrive better elsewhere. You will manage 20 or more prospective families concurrently, each at a different stage. You assess the fit and communicate the outcome directly, in person, in your own voice.

As the network expands, the operational playbook develops in parallel. Those who establish success in a market define the FAQs, the fit standards, and the enrollment criteria that subsequent campuses adopt—and they become the trusted name that affluent families in their city refer to one another.

This is an on-site role at one campus, in person, daily. The profiles that succeed here include: admissions and enrollment professionals from selective independent schools; high-value consumer closers who served families as the buyer, such as luxury real estate agents, private client advisors, or premium practice operators; and hospitality or private service professionals who have delivered white-glove client experiences for discerning clientele. If this describes your background, apply and specify your preferred market.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Managing the complete enrollment experience for every prospective family, from initial inquiry to onboarding, and conducting a thorough needs assessment before presenting the program.
  • Managing 20 or more active prospective families simultaneously, responding to every inquiry promptly and reviewing applications on a daily basis.
  • Facilitating campus tours, open houses, information sessions, and shadow days that clearly communicate who the program is designed for and who it is not.
  • Developing the admission or decline recommendation and personally delivering the decision to the family.
  • Maintaining up-to-date records in HubSpot and the student information system (SIS) following each interaction, leveraging AI tools such as ChatGPT or Claude for preparation and summary documentation, and providing weekly pipeline updates to leadership.

What You Won’t Be Doing

  • Pursuing enrollment quotas at the expense of fit. A family that enrolls and withdraws is a worse result than a family declined at the outset.
  • Being overridden on fit decisions to preserve a relationship or meet a yield metric.
  • Executing scripted calls, high-volume outreach campaigns, or discount-driven closing tactics.
  • Transferring families through a sequence of coordinators, or awaiting committee approval for standard communications.
  • Conducting surface-level tours that avoid substantive questions.

Director Of Member Relations Key Responsibilities

Enroll the right families for one campus and ensure that even declined families experience the process as high-quality service.

Basic Requirements

  • 3 or more years in a client-facing position where an individual or family was the buyer at $25,000 or more per client, or $2,000 or more per month. (Direct B2C/D2C only; B2B and enterprise sales are not applicable.)
  • You have directly managed a client, admissions, or enrollment process from initial inquiry through final commitment decision.
  • You have simultaneously managed 7 or more client relationships using a CRM, database, or tracking system.
  • You have advised a prospective client not to buy, enroll, or join because the fit was not appropriate.
  • You have integrated AI tools into a client-facing workflow.
  • You communicate effectively in writing with executives, high-net-worth individuals, or other discerning clients.
  • You currently reside in, or will relocate within 60 days to, an available campus market: Los Angeles, Santa Barbara, La Jolla, or Malibu, CA; Austin, TX; Atlanta, GA; Boca Raton, FL; Boston, MA; Chicago, IL; Greenwich, CT; Nashville, TN; or Park City, UT.
  • Willing to work on-site at your assigned campus every day.
  • Authorized to work in the United States without requiring visa sponsorship.

Nice-to-have Requirements

  • Experience in admissions or enrollment management at a selective private, independent, or boarding school.
  • Background in luxury residential real estate, private banking, family office services, concierge medicine, or high-end event planning, where families were your primary client.
  • You designed the enrollment process or service standards yourself rather than inheriting an existing framework.
  • You have existing relationships with affluent families, preschools, or family advisors in one of the 12 markets.
  • Owner-operator experience where you personally sold, delivered, and retained high-value clients.
