Coach, Alpha - $100,000/year USD

Crossover

POSTED ON 5/19/2026

  • $100,000 annual W2 compensation, distributed weekly; comprehensive health, dental, and vision coverage begins day one
  • Position based on-site at an Alpha K-8 school in Denver, CO; Oklahoma City, OK; Tulsa, OK; Nashville, TN; Austin, TX; Brownsville, TX; Fort Worth, TX; Houston (Central, South, or The Woodlands), TX; Park City, UT (Salt Lake City metro); or Toronto, Canada (relocation assistance available)

This is not a teaching role. This is a motivation role.

The kindest thing you can do for a child who reached 99% of their target is to tell them it's not finished. If that expectation feels harsh, this role is not for you. If it energizes you—because maintaining high standards is how you demonstrate belief in a student's capacity—read on.

Alpha students complete academic work through AI-driven applications. No classroom lectures. No printed textbooks. You spend half your day facilitating one-hour life-skills sessions on topics like public speaking, concentration, and constructive feedback. The other half is spent in individual or small-group coaching, where you analyze Coachbot data and drive each student toward 100% completion of their weekly app targets. You will not read from a manual—workshop frameworks are provided, but top performers customize them and create new material when needed.

A successful quarter means every student in your cohort completes weekly app goals, passes the Test2Pass for all life-skills workshops, and 90% report they love you. Fall short on any of the three, and you've missed the mark. In your first year, you'll internalize the Alpha playbook; once you've proven you can maintain standards, promotion to Lead Guide becomes possible, where you mentor new hires while continuing to work with students.

If you prefer traditional classroom instruction, expect a ready-made curriculum, or see warmth and rigor as opposing forces, this role won't suit you. If you've coached youth sports, led summer camps, tutored students you refused to let give up, or performed in front of elementary-age audiences, your final interview step is a full day on campus coaching actual Alpha students. If that prospect excites you most, submit your application now.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Facilitating one-hour life-skills sessions for K-8 groups covering public speaking, focus, feedback, and other essential competencies, modifying the framework and creating new workshops when you identify unmet needs
  • Conducting daily individual and small-group coaching sessions that drive every student to 100% weekly app completion, leveraging Coachbot analytics, Alpha's motivational structures (campus currency, performance leaderboards), and personal relationships to overcome reluctance
  • Delivering the Test2Pass (Alpha's competency-based evaluation) for each life skill and continuing to coach students who don't demonstrate mastery until they succeed
  • Adjusting your approach across a broad developmental spectrum—kindergarteners requiring high energy and physical activity through eighth graders needing direct conversations and personal responsibility
  • Serving as the adult who maintains expectations and the adult students trust; warmth creates the foundation for challenge, and challenge communicates your confidence in their ability

What You Won’t Be Doing

  • Delivering whiteboard lessons; academic content is housed in the applications, not delivered by you
  • Creating workshop curricula from the ground up; you animate an existing framework through energy and narrative skill
  • Passively monitoring students on devices; motivation at Alpha is hands-on, individualized, and persistent
  • Reducing weekly targets to ensure a student reaches them; when a child falls behind, the solution is coaching the child, not adjusting the goal
  • Scoring assignments, conducting standardized exam preparation, or handling family outreach; Campus Leads manage parent relations, and the other tasks don't exist in this model

Coach Key Responsibilities

Guarantee that every student in your K-8 group completes their weekly learning targets, achieves mastery in each life skill, and finishes the year reporting they loved you.

Basic Requirements

  • Available to work on-site at an Alpha campus in Denver, CO; Oklahoma City, OK; Tulsa, OK; Nashville, TN; Austin, TX; Brownsville, TX; Fort Worth, TX; Houston, TX (Central, South, or The Woodlands); Park City, UT; or Toronto, Canada (relocation support available)
  • Bachelor's degree in any discipline
  • Minimum 3 years of direct experience working with K-8 students (teaching, coaching, tutoring, camp leadership, or youth program management)
  • A concrete example you can articulate of driving a K-8 student toward a challenging objective: the objective itself, your actions, and the result
  • Comfort allowing AI to deliver instructional content while you concentrate on motivation and life-skills development
  • Active daily use of generative AI platforms (e.g., ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude)
  • Authorization to work in the United States without visa sponsorship requirement (or in Canada for Toronto location)

Nice-to-have Requirements

  • Background in youth sports coaching, debate programs, camp direction, theater, or extracurricular initiatives where you held direct accountability for motivating children toward defined outcomes
  • Demonstrated record of personal achievement (academic, athletic, or career), indicating that upholding rigorous standards for others reflects your consistent approach rather than an adopted stance
  • Narrative ability and command of a room sufficient to engage a group of 12-year-olds for an hour without volume escalation
  • Proven success converting unengaged or oppositional students into committed learners
