What are the responsibilities and job description for the Associate, Alpha - $100,000/year USD position at Crossover?
- $100,000 annual W2 compensation, distributed weekly; health, dental, and vision coverage begins day one
- On-campus role at an Alpha K-8 school in Scottsdale (Phoenix), AZ; Denver, CO; Oklahoma City, OK; Tulsa, OK; Nashville, TN; Austin, TX; Brownsville, TX; Fort Worth, TX; Houston (Central, South, or The Woodlands), TX; Park City, UT (Salt Lake City region)—relocation assistance available
The most meaningful support you can offer a student who reached 99% of their target is to insist it is not finished. If that principle unsettles you, this role is not for you. If it energizes you—because maintaining standards is how you communicate belief in a student's ability—read on.
At Alpha, academic learning occurs through AI-driven applications. No classroom lectures. No printed textbooks. Half of your day involves facilitating one-hour life-skills sessions on topics such as public speaking, concentration, and constructive feedback. The remainder is spent in one-on-one or small-group settings, analyzing student progress via Coachbot data, and ensuring each individual reaches 100% of their weekly application targets. You will not follow a rigid script—sessions provide a foundation, but high performers customize content and create new modules when needed.
A successful quarter means every student in your group completes their weekly app objectives, passes the Test2Pass for all life-skills modules, and 90% or more report positive sentiment toward you. Falling short on any of these three metrics constitutes underperformance. In your first year, you internalize the methodology; as you demonstrate the ability to uphold standards, advancement to Lead Guide becomes available, where you mentor incoming staff while continuing direct student work.
If you prefer conventional classroom instruction, expect to be handed a set curriculum, or view warmth and rigor as incompatible, this position will not suit you. If your background includes athletic coaching, camp counseling, tutoring where you refused to let students disengage, or performance work that commanded the attention of young children, the final interview stage is a full-day campus visit coaching actual Alpha students. If that prospect excites you, submit your application now.
What You Will Be Doing
- Facilitating one-hour life-skills sessions for K-8 groups covering public speaking, focus, feedback, and related competencies, customizing the framework and creating new content when you identify needs
- Conducting daily one-on-one and small-group sessions that drive every student to 100% completion of their weekly app objectives, leveraging Coachbot data, Alpha's motivational infrastructure (school currency, leaderboards), and individual relationships to overcome resistance
- Delivering the Test2Pass (Alpha's competency-based evaluation) for each life skill, and providing continued coaching to students until mastery is demonstrated
- Adjusting your approach across a broad developmental spectrum, from kindergarteners requiring dynamic, movement-oriented engagement to eighth graders needing direct communication and personal accountability
- Serving as the authority figure who maintains expectations and the trusted adult students seek out; care creates permission to challenge, and challenge signals confidence in their capacity
- Delivering whiteboard instruction; academic content is housed in the applications, not your direct teaching
- Developing curriculum from the ground up; you animate an established framework through presence and narrative
- Passively monitoring students as they work on devices; motivation in this context is intentional, interpersonal, and persistent
- Reducing a weekly target to enable a student to reach it; when a student falls behind, the solution is supporting the student, not adjusting the goal
- Evaluating assignments, conducting standardized test preparation, or handling parent outreach; Campus Leads manage family-facing responsibilities, and the other tasks do not apply here
Guarantee that every student in your K-8 group completes their weekly learning targets, achieves mastery of each life skill, and finishes the year reporting a positive relationship with you.
