⚡ Design Engineer – Alternative Energy Systems

💰 $130,000 - $200,000 (based on experience)
Are you passionate about designing the future of clean energy? Crossley Scott is working with a client who is looking for a Design Engineer to join their growing team and help shape innovative, sustainable energy solutions that make a real impact.
In this role, you’ll design and optimize alternative energy systems — including solar and energy storage — working alongside a talented group of project managers, engineers, and clients to deliver efficient, cost-effective, and environmentally responsible solutions.
🔧 What You’ll Do
- Design solar, energy storage, and other renewable energy systems.
- Create and review engineering calculations, drawings, layouts, and system specifications.
- Perform energy modeling and simulations using industry-standard tools.
- Conduct site assessments and feasibility studies for alternative energy projects.
- Ensure compliance with relevant codes and regulations (NEC, IEEE, IEC).
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize performance and cost.
- Support project development with technical documentation and proposals.
- Visit construction sites to assess progress, identify challenges, and propose solutions.
- Provide technical communications and responses for RFIs.
- Lead and participate in on-site commissioning activities.
🎓 What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Renewable Energy Engineering (or related field).
- Minimum 4 years’ experience designing energy systems (solar, energy storage, etc.).
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, PVsyst, Helioscope, SEL Software, or similar tools.
- Strong understanding of grid integration, power electronics, and energy distribution.
- Knowledge of electrical codes and standards (NEC, IEEE, IEC).
- Familiarity with networking devices and troubleshooting communications.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Ability to travel overnight for jobsite visits and client meetings.
⭐ Preferred Skills
- Professional certifications (NABCEP, FE, PE) — preferred but not required.
- Experience with microgrids, hybrid systems, and smart grid technologies.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and documentation abilities.
- Self-directed, team-oriented, and adaptable in a fast-paced environment.
