About the Role
We are seeking a dependable Scale House Attendant to support daily operations at a waste and recycling facility. This position serves as the first point of contact for customers and plays an important role in ensuring safe, efficient traffic flow. The role also includes general upkeep duties and assisting with litter pickup as needed. The hiring manager will interview candidates directly.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet and direct customers entering the facility.
- Answer questions and provide clear instructions.
- Calculate payments accurately based on load type and weight.
- Inspect incoming loads for safety and prohibited materials.
- Ensure customers and employees follow safety rules and wear required PPE.
- Maintain cleanliness and general upkeep of the Scale House.
- Complete administrative tasks such as filing and required reporting.
- Keep supervisor informed of issues requiring attention.
- Attend required trainings and meetings.
- Assist with minor customer service tasks and data entry.
- Perform additional duties as assigned, including litter pickup.
Qualifications
Required:
- High School Diploma or GED
- 0–4 years of experience
Preferred:
- High School Diploma or GED plus additional training
- 0–4 years of experience
Licenses/Certifications:
- None required
Work Environment
- Frequent keyboarding and basic machine operation.
- Occasional lifting of up to 30 lbs.
- Occasional exposure to occupational risks (e.g., cuts, chemicals).
- Regular exposure to dirt, odors, noise, and outdoor weather.
- Primary work setting: Scale House.
