Key Responsibilities:Collect and transport recyclable materials, trash, and waste from designated campus locations.Empty and reline containers of various sizes; transport biohazard materials to holding areas.Maintain cleanliness around building exteriors, parking lots, garages, and loading docks.Label, place, and remove recycling, trash, and waste containers as directed.Educate and assist faculty, staff, and custodial teams on proper sorting of recyclable materials.Sort and dispose of materials in appropriate containers and respond to pickup requests.Operate university vehicles and equipment including trucks, vans, hand trucks, compactors, balers, and forklifts.Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean, orderly condition. Report any mechanical issues to supervisor.Direct waste and recycling crews to appropriate collection points on campus.Follow all safety procedures and proper use of equipment to ensure personal and public safety.Support university events such as commencements, move-ins, and emergency situations (e.g., snow removal).Be available for 24-hour emergency call-ins as needed.Perform other duties as assigned.Requirements:High school diploma or equivalent preferred.Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; experience with manual transmission preferred.Prior knowledge of recycling processes is a plus.Ability to read, write, and follow both oral and written instructions.Strong communication skills; able to answer questions and share information respectfully with faculty, staff, and students.Ability to work in various weather conditions and accommodate special university needs, including occasional weekends or alternate shifts.Ability to lift and move materials up to 50 lbs.Must be able to walk or stand for extended periods and navigate stairs regularly#IND1 #zr
