Position Overview We are seeking a reliable and hardworking Custodian to maintain cleanliness and safety across assigned areas of a facility. This is a hands-on role in a collaborative environment where your attention to detail and work ethic make a direct impact every day.
Position Overview We are seeking a reliable and hardworking Custodian to maintain cleanliness and safety across assigned areas of a facility. This is a hands-on role in a collaborative environment where your attention to detail and work ethic make a direct impact every day.
Key Responsibilities
- Clean and maintain assigned areas including classrooms, offices, hallways, restrooms, stairwells, and common areas using standard cleaning procedures
- Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, and polish a variety of floor surfaces, furniture, and fixtures
- Empty trash and recycling containers; replace liners and dispose of waste properly
- Clean and sanitize restrooms including toilets, urinals, sinks, mirrors, and floors; restock supplies as needed
- Clean walls, windows, blinds, doors, and ceilings; may use ladders or scaffolding to access higher areas
- Follow specific cleaning protocols and apply disinfectants and sanitizing agents as directed
- Operate basic cleaning equipment including vacuums, mops, and related tools
- Report maintenance issues such as leaks, broken fixtures, or unsafe conditions to the appropriate supervisor
- Secure and maintain cleaning supplies and equipment, ensuring proper use and storage
- Adhere to all safety and infection control protocols at all times
- Assist with snow and ice removal around building entrances as needed
Requirements
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions effectively
- Basic reading skills to understand labels, safety instructions, and schedules
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team with minimal supervision
- Strong interpersonal skills; able to interact respectfully with faculty, staff, students, and visitors
- Ability to lift, move, and carry up to 20 lbs
- Physically able to perform repetitive tasks, stand for extended periods, and work in varied environments
