Job Summary:

The Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) provides compassionate care to elderly patients, assisting with daily living activities, monitoring health status, and ensuring the comfort and safety of patients. They work under the supervision of registered nurses (RNs) or licensed practical nurses (LPNs) to provide hands-on care and support to elderly residents in a healthcare setting.

Key Responsibilities:

• Personal Care Assistance:
  • Assist patients with daily activities such as bathing, grooming, dressing, and toileting.
  • Help patients with eating and feeding as needed.
  • Assist with mobility, including transfers, walking, and positioning to prevent discomfort or injury.
• Health Monitoring:
  • Measure vital signs like temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure.
  • Observe and report changes in patients' conditions, such as behavioral changes, pain, or unusual symptoms.
  • Assist with basic medical tasks such as changing dressings, and administering prescribed treatments under supervision.
• Patient Support:
  • Provide companionship and emotional support to patients, ensuring they feel comfortable and engaged.
  • Encourage socialization and participate in recreational activities.
  • Help patients with physical therapy exercises and range-of-motion movements if applicable.
• Documentation:
  • Record patients' daily activities, vital signs, food intake, and other relevant information accurately.
  • Report any unusual observations or incidents to the supervising nurse.
• Safety and Hygiene:
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment for patients by ensuring that rooms and equipment are sanitized and organized.
  • Follow infection control and safety procedures to prevent accidents or spread of infection.
  • Assist in repositioning patients to prevent bedsores and promote comfort.
• Collaboration:
  • Work as part of a healthcare team alongside nurses, physicians, and other caregivers.
  • Assist with admissions, discharges, and transfers of patients when necessary.

Qualifications:
