Duties
- Assemble wire harnesses by following detailed schematics, diagrams, and work instructions to ensure accurate electrical connections.
- Use hand tools, power tools, and machining equipment to cut, strip, crimp, solder, and secure wires and connectors.
- Interpret technical drawings such as schematics and PCB (Printed Circuit Board) layouts to facilitate proper assembly.
- Verify electrical continuity and functionality of harnesses using testing equipment like ohmmeters and multimeters.
- Apply surface mount technology (SMT) techniques for assembling small components on circuit boards when required.
- Maintain a clean, organized workstation adhering to IPC 610 standards for electronic assembly quality.
- Conduct inspections of completed harnesses for mechanical integrity and adherence to specifications, including the use of calipers for precise measurements.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to review designs involving electrical wiring and mechanical components for manufacturability.
- Document assembly processes, test results, and quality checks accurately for traceability and compliance purposes.
Skills
- Strong understanding of electrical wiring principles and schematics interpretation.
- Experience with PCB assembly, surface mount technology (SMT), and soldering techniques.
- Familiarity with manufacturing standards such as IPC 610 for electronic assemblies.
- Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, calipers, ohmmeters, and other measurement devices.
- Mechanical knowledge related to machining processes and the use of hand tools for assembly tasks.
- Ability to read technical diagrams and schematics accurately.
- Electrical experience with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) is a plus.
- Knowledge of electrical testing procedures and troubleshooting skills using multimeters or similar devices.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent manual dexterity for precise assembly work.
