QAPI (Quality Assurance & Performance Improvement) Assistant

JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

The QAPI Assistant will ensure that appropriate and effective quality and event reporting systems are implemented throughout the organization and monitor quality improvement initiatives to improve operational effectiveness, safety, and efficiency.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES

The QAPI Assistant is responsible for the following activities:

Implements the QAPI program as defined in the QAPI plan.

Conducts and participates in audits of medical records and prepares the monitoring reports of these audits.

Helps to identify and assist in PIP teams.

Assists in the development of one or more specific indicators for each important aspect of care that will be an objective measure of quality related to that aspect.

Reviews patient/family evaluation quarterly and compiles data for QAPI meeting.

Demonstrates familiarity with policies and procedures of the organization, keeping all policies updated per the guidelines of Medicare, The National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization, The Joint Commission and rules and regulations of state and federal bodies that aid in determining policies.

Attends and prepares minutes of ethic meetings.

Maintains strict confidentiality in all organizational matters.

Maintains the good will of Cross Timbers Hospice, Inc. among all individuals and groups.

Interacts with staff in a positive and cooperative manner.

Assists in preparation of ADRs as assigned.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge of quality assurance, quality systems, internal auditing, and/or quality improvement preferred.

Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with other staff members and volunteers in a team-work setting.

Employee must be able to perform the essential functions of the job with reasonable accommodation.

Must complete and pass all pre-employment and periodic health requirements established by the organization.

Proficient in all Microsoft Office programs.

Medical Terminology

Bachelor degree in business administration, science, health care or related field preferred. Three (3) years of relevant quality improvement experience may be considered in lieu of degree.

Must have a current driver’s license with no restrictions and an automobile that is insured in accordance to state or organization requirements and is in good working order.
