MS Maker Space teaching position

Position Overview

The Middle School Maker’s Space Teacher inspires creativity, innovation, and problem-solving by engaging students in hands-on learning through design thinking, engineering, and technology. This position leads the operation and development of the school’s Maker’s Space—an interdisciplinary environment where students explore robotics, coding, digital fabrication, and project-based learning that integrates STEM.

Key Responsibilities

Instruction & Curriculum Development

• Design and teach engaging Maker’s Space courses and electives for grades 6–8 that foster innovation, collaboration, and perseverance.
• Integrate design thinking, engineering principles, and creative problem-solving across disciplines.
• Support classroom teachers in embedding Maker’s Space tools and projects into core curriculum areas (science, math, art, and humanities).

Program Leadership

• Maintain and organize the Maker’s Space, including inventory management, tool maintenance, and safety protocols.
• Collaborate with faculty to design interdisciplinary projects and school-wide innovation challenges.
• Serve as an ambassador for the Maker’s Space, promoting a culture of curiosity and creativity among students and teachers.
• Stay current with emerging technologies and trends in STEM, engineering, and design education.

Student Development & Community Engagement

• Encourage a growth mindset by fostering student ownership, inquiry, and reflection.
• Supervise student clubs, competitions, or after-school innovation programs (e.g., robotics, coding, engineering challenges).
• Showcase student work through exhibitions, school events, and digital portfolios.
• Build partnerships with local organizations, professionals, or universities to enrich the Maker’s Space program.
