The YMCA of Kanawha Valley is seeking caring, dependable, and energetic individuals to join our After School Program team at the Cross Lanes YMCA Child Development Center. After School Program Staff create a safe, fun, and engaging environment where children can learn, play, and thrive after the school day ends. This position is perfect for someone who enjoys working with children, building positive relationships, and making a meaningful difference in the lives of youth.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and ensure the safety and well-being of school-age children at all times.
- Plan and lead age-appropriate games, activities, crafts, and enrichment opportunities.
- Assist children with homework and encourage positive learning experiences.
- Build positive relationships with children, families, and fellow staff members.
- Maintain accurate attendance and follow all YMCA and state licensing procedures.
- Help prepare and serve afternoon snacks following program guidelines.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming program environment.
- Follow all YMCA policies, child protection standards, and state licensing requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the Youth Development program and YMCA mission.

Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience working with children is preferred.
- Ability to lead groups of children in a positive and engaging manner.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Dependable, organized, and able to work independently.
- A positive attitude and a genuine passion for serving children and families.
Employment Requirements
- Pass all required criminal background screenings, including a sex offender registry check.
- Provide a health assessment and negative TB test as required by state licensing.
- Obtain and maintain CPR/First Aid certification.
- Complete all required YMCA, state licensing, and child care training requirements.
