Summary

Cross-Cultural Ministries, Inc. (CCM) is seeking a mission-driven, people-oriented leader to serve as Director of Education at our community-based after-school center. This role is central to the daily life of the center, where students—from immigrant families—receive academic support, spiritual encouragement, and relational care.

The Director of Education is responsible for creating a welcoming and well-organized environment where children are supported in completing their homework and growing in faith. Each program day includes structured homework help, group prayer, snack time, and one-on-one or small group tutoring. A key aspect of the role is managing and engaging a team of volunteers, ensuring they are equipped, encouraged, and connected to the students they serve. The Director sets the tone for a warm and respectful atmosphere, helping to build a strong, consistent sense of community for both students and volunteers.

Other responsibilities include preparing daily materials, assessing student needs, communicating with families, registering new students, and helping interns or teen volunteers contribute meaningfully to the program. This is a highly relational and hands-on leadership role that blends educational coordination, volunteer management, and community outreach within a Christ-centered mission.

Qualifications

1. A committed Christian who affirms and supports the mission and values of Cross-Cultural Ministries.

2. Recommended by a pastor or church leader.

3. Has a heart to serve in immigrant communities through Christ-centered educational programs.

4. Minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience.

5. At least 2 years of experience in an educational setting (formal or informal).

6. Willingness to actively support and promote the ministry of CCM through hands-on leadership, relationship-building, and participation in community outreach.

7. Completion of a national background check in accordance with CCM policies.

8. Fluent in English.

9. Must have a valid driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle.

Additional Skills

• Strong written and verbal communication

• Patience and adaptability in a fast-paced, multitasking environment

• Calm and dependable under pressure

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)

• Familiarity with Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Gmail)

Ergonomics

• Able to sit, stand, and stretch as needed while interacting with students

• Ability to enter and exit a vehicle

• Able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. or less of supplies

Primary Responsibilities

1. Oversee the daily after-school program in alignment with CCM’s mission and educational goals.

2. Prepare the center each day for student and volunteer use, including organizing materials and supplies.

3. Build relationships with students and families through community building and outreach.

4. Recruit, train, and support volunteers to effectively tutor and mentor students.

5. Assess student academic progress and adjust tutoring or enrichment support as needed.

6. Supervise and mentor high school scholarship students and student interns assisting at the center.
