What are the responsibilities and job description for the Water Feature Builder position at Cross Creek Landscape Design & Build?

Water Feature Specialist

About Cross Creek
We don't just build landscapes—we create heaven on earth, one backyard at a time. Cross Creek Landscape Design Build exists to glorify God through excellence in craftsmanship, to design and build the most heaven-like outdoor rooms on earth, and to serve children and young adults in the foster care system in the mightiest way possible.
We're a faith-centered, luxury landscape construction company serving North Idaho and Eastern Washington, specializing in six-figure outdoor living transformations that make people stop, stare, and say "Wait... is this my backyard?!"
Our work reflects Colossians 3:23: "Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters."
We're looking for someone who shares our passion for Jesus Christ and wants to use their God-given talents to create something truly extraordinary. Someone who gets genuinely excited about pump systems, perfectly balanced ecosystems, and the sound of cascading water. If that's you, keep reading.
The Opportunity
We're seeking a world-class Water Feature Specialist to join our team and help us build the most breathtaking aquatic features in the Pacific Northwest. This isn't just another construction gig—it's a calling to use your gifts for God's glory while creating spaces where families connect, kids catch frogs, and people experience a little slice of Eden in their own backyard.
Fair warning: This job will stretch you. Like, really stretch you.
We're not building cookie-cutter ponds from a catalog. We're designing and building some of the most ambitious, jaw-dropping, "wait-how-did-they-even-do-that" water features ever installed on private residences. The kind of projects that make other landscape companies stop their trucks to take photos. The kind that end up in industry magazines with captions like "You've got to see this."
Translation: Your brain will hurt (in the best way). You'll encounter challenges you've never faced before. You'll have to innovate, problem-solve, and occasionally say "Well, let's try this and see what happens." And when it works? Man, it's going to feel incredible.
We need a true pro to come alongside us and help make sure these wild visions get built right. Someone who can look at ambitious design plans and say "Here's how we make this actually work" instead of "That's impossible." Someone who gets excited about pushing boundaries while maintaining the highest standards of craftsmanship.
If you're the type who's been looking for work that actually challenges your abilities instead of putting them to sleep... welcome home.
What You'll Build:
  • Natural swimming pools that look like they've always been there.
  • Elaborate waterfall and stream systems (yes, the really impressive ones).
  • Koi ponds where fish actually thrive and people name their favorites.
  • Architectural fountains that become the neighborhood talking point.
  • Disappearing water features that seem to defy physics.
  • Custom aquatic installations for luxury estates that belong in magazines.

Think: Projects where people invite their friends over just to show off what you built.
What We're Looking For:
Essential Qualifications:
  • Minimum 3 years of hands-on water feature construction experience (We need someone who's been elbow-deep in this work, not just watched YouTube videos).
  • Portfolio demonstrating mastery in aquatic feature construction (Show us your greatest hits!).
  • Expert knowledge of pumps, plumbing, filtration systems, and water quality management.
  • Understanding of natural ecosystem balance and aquatic plant systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Strong problem-solving skills (Because water always finds a way to surprise you).
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

Character We Value:
  • Excellence in all things (Daniel 6:3 - "Daniel distinguished himself above the governors and satraps because an excellent spirit was in him").
  • Servant leadership - You're the kind of person who teaches others your tricks instead of hoarding them.
  • Integrity and honesty in all dealings (Even when no one's watching).
  • Humility coupled with confidence in your craft (You know you're good, but you're not insufferable about it).
  • Passion for continuous learning and improvement (There's always a new technique to master).

Bonus Points If:
  • You've built water features that people literally proposed next to.
  • You can diagnose a pump issue by sound alone.
  • You get weirdly excited about proper pond liner installation.
  • You've ever said "Check out this waterfall I built!" at a party.

Growth Potential
This role offers a clear path to leadership. We're not interested in keeping talented people in boxes—we want to see you grow, lead, and thrive.
Your Journey Could Look Like:
  • Year 1: Water Feature Specialist (Master your craft with us).
  • Year 2-3: Jobsite Manager/Foreman (Lead teams on major projects).
  • Year 3 : Lead your own crews, mentor new specialists, maybe even partnership opportunities.

We invest heavily in our people. If you're excellent at what you do and align with our mission, we'll help you get where God's calling you to be.

Compensation & Benefits:
Starting Compensation:
  • Base Salary: $60,000 - $80,000/year (Based on your experience and skill level).
  • Performance Bonuses: Crush it on projects, exceed expectations, serve clients well—and watch your total comp climb past $100,000 annually.
  • Your paycheck reflects your expertise, quality of work, and leadership capabilities.

Benefits (After 6 Months):
  • Health insurance (Because accidents happen, and we care about you).
  • Retirement plan options (Future you will thank present you).
  • Paid time off (Rest is biblical).
  • Professional development opportunities (Conferences, training, new certifications).
  • Tool allowances (Good tools = better work).

Work-Life Balance (This is the good part):
  • Monday-Thursday, 7:00 AM - 5:30 PM (Four 10-hour days).
  • FRIDAYS OFF - Every. Single. Week. Yes, really.
  • Weekends are sacred - Spend them with family, serve at church, rest, adventure. Whatever fills your tank.
  • No Sunday work calls or expectations (If God rested on the seventh day, so can you).

Imagine having a three-day weekend, every single week, for the rest of your career. Yeah.

Where You'll Work:
You'll Be Working In The Field (not behind a desk):
This is a boots-on-the-ground, hands-on role. You'll be out on job sites building, problem-solving, and creating incredible water features in real-time. If you're someone who goes stir-crazy in an office, this is your dream job.
Our Locations:
  • We have offices in Downtown Coeur d'Alene, Idaho and Downtown Spokane, Washington.
  • But you'll spend your days at client properties throughout the region.

Service Area: We work within approximately 1.5 hours of either office throughout North Idaho and Eastern Washington.
Your Daily Workspace: Luxury estates with acreage, lakefront homes, mountain retreats. You'll be outside, working with your hands, surrounded by some of the most stunning properties in the Pacific Northwest. The kind of places where your friends say "Wait, you get to work here?" while they're stuck in a cubicle.
Our Culture:
We operate with a higher purpose guiding everything we do. Here's what that actually looks like day-to-day:
  • Faith-Centered: We pray together before big projects, encourage one another through challenges, and make decisions through a biblical lens. Faith isn't something we leave at the door—it's woven into everything we do.
  • Excellence as Worship: Every water feature we build matters. We're not cutting corners or "good enough-ing" our way through projects. We're creating something beautiful that honors God and brings joy to our clients.
  • Mission-Driven: A portion of our profits goes directly to supporting foster care initiatives. Your work literally changes kids' lives.
  • Team-Oriented: We win together, grow together, and support each other like family. Bad day? We've got your back. Big win? We're celebrating with you.
  • Kingdom-Minded: We're building something bigger than a business—we're building God's Kingdom, one backyard sanctuary at a time.

"So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God." - 1 Corinthians 10:31
If this resonates with your heart, you'll fit right in. If it doesn't, that's okay too—we respect that this culture isn't for everyone.
How to Apply
If God is stirring your heart and you believe you're called to this role, we genuinely want to hear from you.
Here's What We Need:
  • Resume - Show us your water feature construction experience and background.
  • Portfolio - Photos and documentation of water features you've built. Before-and-afters are chef's kiss. We want to see your best work and understand your style.
  • Brief Personal Statement - Tell us about yourself and why Cross Creek resonates with you. What draws you to this opportunity? A few honest paragraphs is perfect.
  • References - 2-3 people who can speak to your work quality, character, and craftsmanship.

  • Instagram: @208landscape (DM us!).
  • Facebook: Cross Creek Landscape Design.

A Word to the Applicant:
May God's grace be with you as you read these words.
If the Holy Spirit is stirring something in your heart right now—a sense of "this could be it"—we encourage you to pay attention to that. God often speaks in that still, small voice.
We're not looking for perfect people. We're looking for people who want to do excellent work and be part of something meaningful.
Maybe you're reading this and thinking "I tick most of these boxes, but not all of them." Apply anyway. Let us decide if you're a fit.
Maybe you've never worked for a company that prays before projects or talks openly about Jesus. We get it—it might feel different. But different can be really, really good.
If you have a gift for building water features and want to use your talents while working somewhere that actually values you as a whole person (not just a pair of hands), we'd be truly honored to meet you.
"For we are God's handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do." - Ephesians 2:10
Whether you apply or not, may the Lord bless you abundantly. May He guide your steps, provide for your needs, and give you peace in whatever decision you make. May you know His love deeply and experience His goodness in your life and career.
So... if this is where He's leading you, what are you waiting for? Let's build something beautiful together.
