Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Assistant, or Veterinary Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for animal care and welfare, with experience in various veterinary settings. This role involves assisting veterinarians and veterinary technicians in providing high-quality care to our patients, ensuring their comfort and safety during examinations and treatments.
Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians with examinations, procedures, and surgeries.
- Provide proper restraint for animals during examinations and treatments.
- Administer medications as directed by the veterinarian or technician.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the clinic, including kennels and examination rooms.
- Monitor animal behavior and health status, reporting any changes to the veterinary staff.
- Assist with laboratory procedures, including sample collection and processing.
- Educate pet owners on proper pet care, nutrition, and preventive health measures.
- Handle front desk duties as needed, including scheduling appointments and managing records.
- Ensure compliance with aseptic techniques during procedures.
Requirements
- Previous experience as a Veterinary Assistant or in a similar role is preferred.
- Knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, physiology, and husbandry practices.
- Experience with animal handling, restraint techniques, and medication administration.
- Familiarity with laboratory procedures and equipment is advantageous.
- Strong communication skills for effective interaction with pet owners and team members.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Experience with equine care is a plus but not mandatory.
