What are the responsibilities and job description for the Internal Auditor position at Cross County Savings Bank?
Position Summary: Conducts audits of financial records and controls to ensure the financial institution is in compliance with laws and regulations; and the Bank’s policies and procedures.Job Functions:
- Maintains a comprehensive internal audit program, which includes regular audit procedures and activities for financial institution branches and departments of operation
- Reviews and appraises policies and procedures for safeguarding financial institution assets
- Oversees the independent audit and examination of Bank records to ensure compliance with laws and regulations
- Recommends and assists in the development of procedures and controls which are indicated through normal audit reviews
- Develops new or revised internal audit policies, methods and procedures
- Performs risk assessment for all departments
- Prepares and submits written reports of internal audit reviews to Management and to the Audit Committee of the Board of Trustees
- Assists external auditors and regulatory examiners during audits as necessary
- Attends seminars and meetings on pertinent topics
- Prepares audit reports, detailing the audit findings, including identification of root cause, material effects and significant weaknesses, recommendations, and assigning an overall audit rating
- Develops annually audit schedule through identification and evaluation of risk and resources
- Investigates any material teller differences and suspicious activity
- Manages and performs audits concurrently with other projects
- Plans the audit scope and test work by effectively analyzing and assessing risk
- Ensures audits are performed within the time budget allotted; audit staff is utilized effectively based on skill sets and provides guidance and hands-on training to audit staff.
- Understands business priorities, anticipates issues and obstacles, and incorporates these concepts into risk discussions with department management to ensure and maintain effective and productive relationships with the auditee throughout the engagements
- Assists in evaluating the effectiveness of risk management monitoring techniques to include coverage for all risk categories and significant risk events and evaluate the Bank’s mechanisms for monitoring and controlling risk across the entire organization
- Stays abreast of changes in risks to the organization, including regulatory requirements and expectations of the regulatory requirements
- Reporting to the Audit Committee Chairman and the Audit Committee and administratively to the Chief Executive Officer.Education: Undergraduate Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business or related field. Work Experience: 4-7 years of diversified bank auditing experience related to financial, operational and compliance functions.
