Responsibilities
- Greet patients and visitors warmly, providing excellent customer service and guiding them through check-in procedures.
- Collect patient information, verify insurance details, and update medical records accurately using Electronic Medical Records (EMR) or Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems.
- Prepare and submit detailed medical claims using CPT (Current Procedural Terminology) coding, ICD-9, ICD-10, and DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group) coding standards to ensure precise reimbursement.
- Review and process medical bills, ensuring correct application of ICD (International Classification of Diseases) coding and medical terminology for diagnoses and procedures.
- Follow up on unpaid claims through medical collections processes, working diligently to resolve discrepancies or denials.
- Maintain organized medical records, ensuring compliance with privacy regulations and accurate documentation of all billing activities.
- Assist with administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, answering phone calls, managing correspondence, and supporting overall office operations.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of medical billing processes including CPT coding, ICD coding (ICD-9 and ICD-10), DRG classifications, and medical terminology.
- Experience with EMR/EHR systems for documentation, billing, and record management.
- Familiarity with medical collection procedures to effectively follow up on outstanding payments.
- Solid understanding of medical records management and privacy standards.
- Ability to interpret complex insurance policies and resolve billing discrepancies efficiently.
- Excellent communication skills to interact professionally with patients, insurance companies, and team members.
- Prior experience in a medical office environment is highly preferred to ensure smooth integration into our workflow.
