Job Summary:

The Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) Nurse position is located in Fargo, North Dakota. This role involves providing post-operative care to pediatric and adult patients across various surgical specialties within an acute care setting. The PACU Nurse will be responsible for monitoring high-acuity patients, utilizing specialized equipment, and collaborating with healthcare teams to ensure optimal patient recovery.

Job Details:

• Schedule: Rotating shifts with 12-hour shift hours, typically from 0700 to 1900, with occasional nights, weekends, and varied shifts. Up to 36 hours per week.


• Required Qualifications: Valid nursing license in North Dakota, ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications from the American Heart Association, with a minimum of 2 years of PACU experience, critical care experience preferred.


• Preferred Qualifications: Experience caring for pediatric patients, acute hospital experience of large hospital settings (250 beds), and familiarity with Epic charting, AcuDose medication dispensing, Phillips monitors, vents, and BiPap equipment.


• Float: Float rotation may be required to other units or departments, including potential float between campuses for Phase I PACU.


• Unit Description: The PACU consists of 18 Bay Phase I and 14 Bay Phase I units across two floors staffed by the same team, specializing in caring for patients post-surgery from multiple specialties, including ICU, Cath Lab, Endoscopy, and Interventional Radiology.


• Clinical Responsibilities: Caring for surgical patients of all ages, including ICU, Cath Lab, Endoscopy, and IR patients post-procedures; adhering to ASPAN standards of 1-1 or 2-1 patient to nurse ratios.


• Training & Orientation: Basic hospital and unit orientation, with a Buddy RN on the unit.


• Other Details: Never alone in the unit, with a dress code requiring hospital-provided scrubs. The shift notes include variable days, with occasional weekend and night shifts, and a rotating call schedule.


• Charting System: Epic.


• Cancellation Policy: Client may cancel up to 12 hours every 13 weeks.


• Start Date: 08/31/2026.
