Job Summary:

PACU (Post Anesthesia Care Unit) Nurse in a trauma-focused acute care facility with a focus on pediatric patients. The position involves caring for high-acuity surgical cases, including adult and pediatric patients, with experience in ICU, Cath Lab, Endoscopy, and Interventional Radiology post-procedures. The role requires adaptability to varied shifts and potential float between units and campuses.

Job Details:

• Schedule: 12-hour shifts with a varied weekend rotation, occasional nights, and backup call in rotation; may include 2 weeknights per month and up to every 4th weekend.


• Required Qualifications: Valid ND Registered Nurse (RN) license, ACLS (American Heart Association), BLS (American Heart Association), and PALS (American Heart Association) certifications; minimum of 2 years of PACU (Post Anesthesia Care Unit) experience; experience with pediatric patients (average 5 to 15 kids per day); acute/hospital experience in a large hospital (250 beds); proficiency with EPIC charting, AcuDose medication dispensing, Phillips monitors, vents, and BiPaps.


• Preferred Qualifications: Critical Care experience.


• Float: Float rotation may be required, including floating between units and campuses.

  • Unit includes 18 Bay Phase I PACU and 14 Bay Phase I PACU across two floors with the same staff.
  
  
  • Nurse to patient ratio follows ASPAN standards of 1-1 or 2-1.
  
  
  • Caring for all surgical specialties, including ICU, Cath Lab, Endoscopy, and IR patients post-procedure.
  
  
  • Equipment used includes Epic charting, Phillips monitors, vents, and BiPaps.
  
  
  • Orientation includes basic hospital/unit training and Buddy RN support.
