Job Summary:
The Operating Room Registered Nurse (RN) position is based in Anchorage, Alaska, at a magnet-designated facility with a Level II Trauma designation. The role involves providing specialized perioperative nursing care across a variety of surgical specialties in an acute hospital setting. Candidates must bring their Alaska RN license on the first day of orientation.
Job Details:
- Location: Anchorage, Alaska
- Start Date: As Soon As Possible (ASAP)
- Shift: 3x12-hour days (either 0645-1915 or 0900-2130) with varying start times, minimum hours per week: 36
- Schedule: Shift schedule is Days, with a minimum guaranteed 60 hours biweekly; may be called off for one shift per 2-week pay period
- Required Qualifications: Must have a valid Alaska Registered Nurse (RN) license; current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification; minimum 2 years of operating room (OR) experience; experience working with Epic charting system; certified in ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support); preferred certifications include CNOR (Certified Nurse Operating Room)
- Preferred Qualifications: Trauma Level II experience, previous charge nurse experience, patient ratio experience with 1:1 for days/night/weekends
- Additional Requirements: Must have at least 50 miles from the facility; willing to work 2 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year); references covering 1 year (6 months for CNAs) within the past 3 years; current Hep B vaccination status; ability to work within hospital float policies, maintaining scope of practice; must have the license in hand for auto-offer submission; no local candidates accepted; candidates must submit RTO requests at the time of application for consideration.
- Special Equipment & Skills: Use of da Vinci Xi Surgical System, Mazor Robot, Stealth Navigation, and other advanced surgical equipment; experience with a wide range of surgical procedures including vascular, neuro, ortho, ENT, gyn, urology, and trauma surgeries.
- Additional Information: Comprehensive orientation (40 hours), module completion (approx. 16 hours, annually recorded), and possible float within hospital units or affiliate hospitals. Candidate must be flexible to work scheduled major holidays and adhere to regional policies.
