Job Summary:
Emergency Room (ER) Nurse position available in a fast-paced, high-acuity emergency department located within a trauma and stroke receiving facility. This role involves managing a diverse patient population with common diagnoses such as chest pain, abdominal pain, shortness of breath, and uncontrolled diabetes, primarily serving adult patients between 20-90 years old. The ER is a newly opened, large Level 1 trauma center equipped with advanced resources and a dedicated behavioral health unit. Successful candidates will be self-sufficient, skilled in Epic electronic health record system, and capable of functioning effectively with limited resources in a dynamic environment.
Job Details:
- Schedule: 12-hour night shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week, starting on 10/05/2026 and ending on 01/04/2027.
- Required Qualifications: Licensure valid for practice, current certifications including BLS (AHA), ACLS, PALS or ENPC, NIHSS, and a minimum of 2 years of emergency nursing experience.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience in smaller, fast-paced facilities with proficiency in Epic EHR system.
- Float: Floating between three hospital campuses within 20-25 miles; compact license required.
- Additional Information: The ER handles approximately 70-80 patients daily, with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 4:1. Staffing includes 1 ED physician at all times with peak hours staffed by 2-3 mid-level providers. Charge nurses may take patient assignments, and a PCT is assigned per shift for patient transport and phlebotomy. RT equipment such as vents, Cpap, BiPap, high-flow oxygen, and EKGs are available; RNs troubleshoot but do not operate. Telemetry/monitor techs are present but RNs do not interpret strips. Labs are primarily drawn by RNs. Orientation includes two 8-hour hospital shifts and two 12-hour clinical shifts with preceptor support.
