Job Summary
Registered Nurse, Labor and Delivery Department. This position provides comprehensive care for antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, gynecologic, and nursery patients in a Level I maternity and newborn care setting. Responsibilities include labor and delivery care, triage, cesarean section support, postpartum care, and newborn care.
Job Details
- Required Qualifications: At least 1 year of relevant experience; valid compact nursing license in hand at submission; American Association of Women's Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN) Advanced and Intermediate certifications; Basic Life Support (BLS); Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP); and STABLE certification. Required skills include baby-friendly protocols, circulating for cesarean sections, labor-delivery-recovery-postpartum care, Level I nursery care, recognition and treatment of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns, spiral electrode placement, sterile vaginal examination, obstetric patient triage, Electronic Fetal Heart Monitoring (EFM), external and internal fetal monitoring, and wound assessment and care.
- Schedule: Night shifts consisting of 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week. Every other weekend is required, and on-call coverage may be required for low census.
- Additional Information: Provides full-spectrum Level I maternity services, including triage, antepartum, labor, delivery, postpartum, and nursery care for patients at 36 weeks gestation and above. Patient populations include neonates, infants, and adults. The role includes care for post-surgical gynecologic patients, support for cesarean sections, and care in a unit with designated operating rooms and surgical technologist support.
