Job Summary:

Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) in Wausau, Wisconsin. This position involves providing patient care in a 36-bed Med Surg Intermediate Care unit with a focus on stable, weaning ventilator and trach patients, as well as trauma, sepsis, and neurological cases. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day of orientation.

Job Details:

• Required Qualifications: Wisconsin Registered Nurse (RN) license, Basic Life Support (BLS), and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications. Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience, including stepdown, intermediate, or progressive care unit (PCU) experience; ICU experience preferred. Ventilator and trach experience required. At least one prior travel assignment is necessary.


• Schedule: 12-hour night shifts (7:00 PM 7:30 AM), minimum of 36 hours per week.


• Float: Required to float to all inpatient units, including higher acuity units, as needed.


• Holiday Rotation: Every other holiday.


• Additional Information: This is a 13-week contract position with guaranteed hours, with the possibility of low census unbillable hours during certain periods. During flu season, travelers declining flu and COVID vaccinations must wear masks at all times, as per policy. The unit handles complex medical cases including trauma, sepsis, TBI, ortho trauma, stroke, and more. The unit has a patient-to-nurse ratio of 4:1.
