Job Overview
We are a heavy highway construction company specializing in asphalt paving, underground utilities, earthwork, and concrete flat work. We are currently seeking a skilled and dependable professional to lead our Layout & Surveying Department.
This position supports projects both in the field and in the office by managing survey data, loading and maintaining work files, and providing accurate layout & surveying services that keep projects on schedule and built to plan.
Duties
- Perform construction layout and surveying for highway and heavy construction projects
- Support field teams with staking, measurements, and verification of alignment/grades
- Load, organize, and manage survey/design files and coordinate with ongoing work
- Prepare, update, and maintain work files to support production schedules
- Assist in ensuring projects meet plans, specifications, and tolerance requirements
- Coordinate with project management/superintendents and communicate site measurements clearly
Qualifications
- 1–3 years of experience in construction surveying and layout (heavy highway experience preferred)
- Ability to read and understand plans, profiles, and construction drawings
- Proficiency using surveying/layout technology (e.g., total station/RTK/GPS, software/tools)
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
- Ability to travel to job sites and work in outdoor conditions
- Strong organizational skills for managing office and field file workflows
- Valid driver’s license (and willingness to work on jobsites)
Physical Requirements
- Lift up to 50 lbs.
- Walk uneven terrain.
- Work outdoors in varying weather.
- Stand for extended periods.
