Role Description
This is a temporary, three week, on-site role located in Richmond, VA, for a Summer Camp Cook. The Summer Camp Cook will be responsible for meal preparation, planning and cooking balanced and nutritious meals for camp attendees, including snacks and special dietary accommodations. Daily tasks include managing kitchen operations, ensuring cleanliness and compliance with food safety regulations, coordinating meal schedules, and maintaining inventory. The cook will play a critical role in fostering a positive dining experience for staff and campers alike.
Qualifications
- Experience in meal preparation, cooking, and menu planning, particularly for large groups
- Knowledge of food safety regulations, kitchen hygiene, and inventory management
- Ability to accommodate special dietary needs and manage allergies professionally
- Strong organizational and time management skills for efficient kitchen operations
- Effective communication and teamwork abilities to collaborate with camp staff
- Previous experience in a commercial kitchen, camp setting, or similar environment is a plus
- ServSafe certification
Weeks Needed:
- Monday, June 22nd – Friday, June 26th, 2026 (~40 participants)
- Monday, July 13th – Friday, July 17th, 2026 (~60 participants)
- Sunday, July 19th – Saturday, July 25th, 2026 (~60 participants)
Weekly Meal Times:
- Breakfast: 7:30 AM
- Packed Lunch Pick-Up: 8:30 AM
•Dinner: 6 PM
Compensation: $500/week, and if an additional person is needed to help assist for the two weeks in July due to the higher volume of participants, their compensation would also be $500/week.
