We take pride in maintaining interiors of exceptional quality — from bespoke furniture to hand-finished joinery — and are seeking a skilled French Polisher / Furniture Finisher to help preserve the unique aesthetic of our hotel.
Position Overview
The French Polisher is responsible for maintaining and restoring all wooden furniture, fixtures, and decorative surfaces throughout the hotel. Working closely with both the Housekeeping and Engineering teams, this role ensures that all guest rooms and public areas are kept to the highest visual standard in keeping with Crosby’s brand identity.
Key Responsibilities
- Restore and maintain wood finishes, furniture, wall paneling, and decorative items in guest rooms and public areas.
- Apply French polish, wax, oil, lacquer or stain finishes to achieve a consistent, luxury appearance.
- Perform surface repairs including touch-ups, scratch removal, and re-staining as needed.
- Conduct preventive maintenance to avoid deterioration or discoloration of wood surfaces.
- Coordinate with Housekeeping on daily inspections and repair needs, ensuring swift response to guest-room or lobby requirements.
- Collaborate with the Engineering team on larger restoration or refurbishment projects.
- Keep accurate logs of all restoration and maintenance activities.
- Maintain a safe, organized workspace and handle materials in accordance with OSHA and hotel safety standards.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a French Polisher, Furniture Restorer or Wood Finisher within a luxury hotel, high-end residential project, or fine furniture studio.
- Strong technical knowledge of finishing methods, including traditional French polish and modern lacquer systems.
- Exceptional eye for color and grain matching.
- Excellent attention to detail and pride in craftsmanship.
- Ability to work independently and manage priorities within a luxury hospitality environment.
- Professional demeanor and discretion in guest areas.
Education & Training
• Qualification or apprenticeship in Furniture Finishing, Woodworking, or Restoration preferred.
• On-the-job experience in high-end finishing or fine furniture restoration required.
• Safety and chemical-handling training (provided by the hotel).
