Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse (RN) will be responsible for providing healthcare services and ensuring the safety and well-being of students during their transportation to and from school. This includes monitoring students with medical needs, administering medication if required, and responding to any health-related emergencies that may arise while on the school bus.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited program.
• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Illinois.
• Current CPR and First Aid certification; additional pediatric or emergency nursing certification is preferred.

Reports To: Director of Student Services 

Terms of Employment:

• Schedule: This position requires working during the school year, with hours aligned to school bus schedules, including mornings and afternoons.
• Environment: Work primarily on a school bus, which may involve exposure to varying weather conditions and potential health hazards.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Student Health Monitoring: Supervise and monitor the health of students with medical needs while they are being transported to and from school.
• Emergency Response: Provide immediate care and intervention in case of medical emergencies, including administering first aid, CPR, or other emergency care as necessary.
• Medication Administration: Administer prescribed medications to students as required during the bus ride, ensuring proper dosage and timing.
• Health Documentation: Maintain accurate records of any health-related incidents, medication administration, and any care provided during transportation.
• Communication: Communicate any health concerns or incidents with school administration, parents, and healthcare providers as needed.
• Safety Compliance: Ensure that all health and safety protocols are followed on the bus, including proper seating arrangements and use of safety equipment.
• Collaboration: Work closely with bus drivers, school staff, and parents to ensure a coordinated approach to student health and safety during transportation.
