What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Business Development Specialist position at Cronus Technology?
At Cronus, we are proud servants to the pipeline industry, working diligently to ensure pipelines are born right, with engineering, procurement, and construction management (EPCM); then live right, with integrity management (IM). Our team consists of consistent, capable, and collaborative professionals.
We are seeking a Senior Business Development Specialist to join our team at Cronus. This is an outstanding position for an experienced business development specialist with an established network in subsea pipeline integrity, flow assurance, and offshore engineering to expand our client base. The successful candidate will combine strong account management skills, technical credibility, and a consultative sales approach to build lasting client relationships, identify new opportunities, and drive profitable growth for Cronus.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify, develop, and maintain customer accounts that drive qualified inquiries and profitable, recurring revenue;
- Build and maintain account plans for major clients, including known decision-makers, influencers, and procurement practices;
- Present Cronus’s capabilities directly to operator engineering, integrity, and procurement teams;
- Travel regularly to client offices and facilities domestically and internationally to maintain relationships and represent Cronus;
- Originate and qualify new opportunities by matching Cronus' service lines to client technical needs;
- Work directly with Cronus leadership team to screen opportunities, forecast resourcing needs, and align capture strategy with business strategy;
- Lead proposal development in partnership with Operations, including writing differentiated technical and commercial content;
- Support contract negotiations alongside Operations leadership, finding commercial solutions that satisfy client requirements within Cronus's risk framework;
- Conduct win/loss debriefs with clients and report lessons learned back into the organization;
- Track market trends, competitor positioning, and client organizational changes across the subsea integrity and offshore engineering space;
- Recommend service or capability adjustments based on emerging client needs;
- Represent Cronus at industry conferences and technical forums to build visibility and relationships;
- Maintain disciplined CRM hygiene for accounts, opportunities, and forecasting;
- Prepare call reports, KPI updates, and customer satisfaction documentation as needed.
What We're Looking For
- An established network of relationships within E&P, midstream, and integrated oil company organizations; existing contacts at one or more major operators (e.g., ExxonMobil, BP, TotalEnergies, Shell, or similar) strongly preferred;
- 5 years of direct sales or business development experience specifically within subsea pipeline integrity, riser integrity, flow assurance, inspection, or related offshore engineering services;
- A demonstrated track record of originating and closing new accounts in the oil and gas / subsea sector, not solely managing existing relationships;
- Working technical fluency in subsea pipeline and riser integrity, inspection methods, flow assurance, or life-cycle extension concepts sufficient to engage credibly with client engineering teams;
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including comfort with cold outreach, contract negotiation, and public presentation;
- Ability to read and interpret technical reports, financial statements, and legal/contract documents;
- Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and CRM/contact management systems;
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering, or a related field — or equivalent industry experience; for this role, a verifiable client network and sales track record will be weighted at least as heavily as formal education;
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed to support client relationships and business development in target regions (Gulf Coast, and international markets relevant to target accounts).
Cronus offers competitive salaries, full-scale benefits (medical, dental, vision), 401K matching, Flexible Spending Account, hybrid 9/80 schedule, paid vacation, and the opportunity to enrich your career.
