Job Type: Full-time with overtime

Reports to: Superintendent, no supervisory responsibility

Wage: $28 - $33 per hour (based on experience and qualifications)

Job Summary:

The main duties of the Mobile Mechanic position include performing a full range of repair and modification work on heavy equipment vehicles. This is a full-time position, requires travel with overtime through peak season, reports to the superintendent, and has no supervisory responsibility.

TRAVEL IS REQUIRED!

Primary Responsibilities:

• Perform a full range of repair and modification work on heavy equipment vehicles to include, but not limited to light duty, heavy duty and trucks, backhoes, loaders, paving equipment, and miscellaneous equipment.
• Repair tires, wheels, wheel bearings, idler wheels, idler bearings, and oil seals.
• Repair hydraulic and air brake systems.
• Determine the nature and extent of repairs required.
• Perform minor repairs on engines, power transmissions, transfers, and related electrical, fuel and hydraulic components.
• Use technical manuals and other publications to identify and order repair parts.
• Operate and inspect machines or equipment to diagnose defects.
• Examine parts for damage or excessive wear, using testing equipment such as compression testers, computer software tools, test meters, micrometers, gauges, and overall strong diagnostic skills.
• Willingness to perform duties outside the normal scope of work (i.e. work in poor weather conditions or outside normal hours).

Position Requirements:

• Consent to authorization of a pre-employment work screen, Motor Vehicle Record request, and drug test.
• Accreditation from the school of mechanics or 3 plus years working with heavy construction equipment.
• Understand instructions from supervisory positions, both written and verbal.
• Dependability and reliability by showing up to scheduled shifts on time and being prepared for work.
